Default Sorry another oil question

Hey guys sorry for this same topic but I couldn'tfind my answer on the search. So it's time to do my regular oil change and went to go buy my mobil 1 5w-30 but couldn't find any so I bought the mobil 1 0w-30 advanced fuel economy instead. I was wondering if this is the same thing and if it is safe to use. It says it outperforms a 5w-30 but wanted to hear ur guys' opinion first. TIA

Warning: Your going to get 20 different answers and everybody knows best lol! My opinion, try for a 5w oil, its better for the warmer weather at engine start. If you cant find anything, just use what you have. I wouldnt sweat it.

It won't make any difference. The first number describes viscosity at cold conditions. At engine operating temperature, both oils will perform the same.

You don't drive hard until your engine is up to operating temperature anyways, right? RIGHT?

Since there is not a mineral oil grade of 0W-xx, it's typically not manufacturer recommended.

according to the manual, 10w-30 is acceptable as well, but 5w-30 is recommended for cold/warm starts

Not quite, the manual discourages the use of 10W-30, says it's okay if nothing else is available, but to switch it out at the next change.

Per a TSIB that was released after the manual was printed, the recommended viscosity (and the factory fill) for the 2IS is 5W20. 5W30 is also perfectly acceptable.

Anything from 0w-20 to 10w-30 will work fine. 0w-30 is better then 5/10w-30. It will give you better cold start flow. 0w-20 is even better, since 5w-20 is the recommended weight.
