Default Snow Mode

You drivers that DO NOT live in snow states are you driving in Snow Mode to conserve gas? Does the prolonged use of these over lets set a year straight hurt anything? Are you seeing any savings on gas in this mode?

Thanks

I tried this in my 250, and it made driving the car so utterly unenjoyable, I couldn't keep doing it.

It is not that great for the car to leave in snow or power mode for extended amount of time. These features are designed to either (power mode) advance timing or (snow mode) retard timing. This had been discussed many times in many threads.

+1.. I only use power mode to climb the mountains, and it really help.

I keep it in power mode at all times. I like the response in that mode and get around 19-20 mpg all city driving.

And in every thread it has been discussed it is well known that it doesn't do -anything- with timing.

The only thing either mode changes is the programming of the transmission (shift points for example).

It has been proven in testing that normal mode is actually the "fastest" mode if you're flooring it, which certainly wouldn't be the case if power mode somehow "advanced the timing"

Waiting for rebuttal.

No rebuttal! It is true . It increases the sensitivity of the throttle and holds the shift points longer.

I do get better gas mileage in the snow mode. I get about 2 mpg in the city better.
