The way i erad the OP, it was the bumper, not the lip. The factory lip is only $120 per side, and they're pre-painted. So $400 for a repaint of the lip would be a HUGE mistake.

Maybe there is a plastic front bumper covering you could attach to the bottom of the front bumper? I think the Porsche Carrera has a bumper guard like this on it...

If you have a back up camera, try backing up instead. That is what I do to to avoid the concrete barriers scrapping the front air dam.

To clarify things, the repeated scrape is on the lowest part of the bumper, right ahead of the right-front tire. And the $400 we paid included some other items, like a 10” key scratch on the rear quarter panel that we just discovered one day and three dings on the driver’s door.

I like the idea of backing in to a parking spot, and we have the nav backup camera; now all I’ve got to do is convince her that it’s worth the trouble. But I may be able to do it.

I don’t know about you other IS husbands, but of all the cars she’s owned, this particular car is the first one she has really taken pride in and has made an effort to keep it in showroom condition. For example, I’ve purchased car covers for past cars that she never used. But for this one, in hot weather at least when she parks outside at work, she does put it on. Now we’ve been married for 26 years (today as it turns out) and she’s never done that before.

I don't want to start a new thread on the same topic, so I hope you don't mind me posting here.

Here's my scrape on my front bumper. What do you think? Do nothing or have work done? Btw, part of the clear bra is torn.

How bout a big coat of touch of paint and then buff and polish? Then of course another clear bra to cover up. Maybe Aerotech would cut off a piece of clear bra and place over it.

This may sound like a dumb question, but I'm a female so I'm quite car challenged. There's no metal underneath the bumper right? The black I see is plastic? I'm trying to prevent corrosion.
