I also had mine appraised at CarMax for $19,700!!!!! Low for an 07 considering how much I paid for it. It's got a lot of miles on it, some dings from rocks (thanks to semi trucks), and minor scratches here and there. Overall, the body looks great. No dents aside from the rocks. The car is an automatic too and it's still appraised that low.
That's why investors say, "cars are the worse investments". Depreciation value is so high compared to anything else. It is also said that Lexus has one of the highest retail value. Yeah right. I just lost almost 20 grand already from what I bought if for, lol, and it's from 2007.

Yeah, you're not the only one. There are quite a few 3rd gen GS owners who picked up their car in 2005/2006 for about 50k who are finding their cars are now worth 30-35k. It's really unfortunate since many who went after the GS300 and GS430 back then didn't know the GS350 was going to be offered a year later. I'm not sure if the GS460 came out in 07 or if it's new for 08 but it really blows the 3rd gen GS430 out of the water performance wise.

I was very dissapointed at the quote. I expected much higher like in the mid $20,000 range at the most or even low 20's, but it went way below what I expected. What a ripoff. So I just kept the IS.

I'm sticking with the IS. No more spending. Waste way too much money--unless of course you are just wealthy and have money you can afford to spend. If I won the lottery, OMG, I wouldn't even consider the Lexus lol. I'll have like 3 expensive cars just for the hell of it.

Carmax must weigh mileage pretty heavily: Mine had just a little over 4000 miles when I sold it to them, and I didn't really lose that much (well, except for the payments I made, but that was pretty much like rent ).

well i finally sold my car..
21k. better than carmax but i did JUST hit 50k and 21k is the 'excellent" condition value so i guess i'm semi satisfied.
i asked her to take me to my friends house and she said "no". it was literally 1 mile down from "the block" in anaheim. coudln't believe it haha.
it was fun~ it feels really wierd letting my first car go.

The joys of Private sales...
I remember when I sold my first car. It's a hassle, but if done right, you get what you want.
Now, get that NSX!!!
