when my wife drives she is really close to the steering wheel. is this a safe feature to put in the car? when it deploys would it break anyone's leg or trapped anyone leg from trying to get our the car? just wanted to know everyone's thoughts. never been in an serious accident so dont know the harm of airbags but i heard they burn and make u blackout when u get hit in the head by one

Both the knee, steering wheel and passenger dash airbags inflate at roughly 173 mph. It is best to give at least a foot of space in between. As fast as the airbags inflate, they are basically deflated by a couple of exit holes used to relase the sodium azide and iron oxide (nitrogen). You will not be trapped by an airbag so no worries.Originally Posted by greg0723

That's why I drive with great distance from the steering column.
I hate it when people drive hugging the steering wheel. People need to be more relaxed while driving...
