I actually went thru this with my younger brother. He was caught doing 137 mph in a 55 mph zone. they arrested him and impounded the bike. He called me from the booking room to please come and bail him out. So after some phone calls, I found out that his bail hearing was scheduled for the following day. I contacted a lawyer and he got the info, went down there and we arranged for bail. He was charged with Reckless endangerment, And Speeding in excess of 100 mph. He lost his driving privilages for 90 days, and was fined $1,200.00 and court fees and had to go to a 3 day driver school, and was put on probation for 6 months. I was in the court room when the judge issued my brother a very stern warning to not be seen in those court rooms again for this. He said it was within his powers to suspend his liscence for 5 years, and increase the fines and lengthen the probation period.

 

Why don't y'all go and live in VA.

Anything 20 mph over the limit or > 80 mph = reckless driving.

Then comes the MASSIVE fines (excuse me.....FEES as the state calls them) that come with it.



Here's a list of the fees, and IIRC they only apply to VA residents. BTW, these are IN ADDITION to all other fines/points associated with what you typically get hit with:

Unsafe driving fees (Abusive Driver Fees) are one component of the comprehensive transportation and land use legislative compromise enacted earlier this year. Abusive driver fees have been under consideration by the General Assembly for three years.

* Driving on a suspended or revoked license - $250 each year for three years;
* Reckless or aggressive driving - $350 each year for three years;
* Driving while intoxicated - $750 each year for three years;
* Other misdemeanor convictions for driving and/or motor vehicle-related offense -$300 each year for three years;
* Any felony conviction for driving or motor vehicle-related offense - $1000 each year for three years.

 

never again going that fast on public roads...i was scared ****less.

 

I always catch myself going over 100mph in my is350...soo smooth, and well i have a heavy foot..but thats what the Valentine 1's for Got it after my first ticket and ticket-free since!!

Damn, i got caught( with my old modded teg) doing 140 racing with a supra on the turnpike.....young and dumb.....got off though, the other guy went to jail, diplomatic got me out of it.

 

What were you clocked at and what was your penalty in regards to monetary figure and probation if you don't mind me asking. This seems to be a dangerous story that I guess I would like to hear about for some morbid curiosity, but I don not condone this.

 

110...damn turbo. Save it for the track and keep it save for the rest of us on public roads.

 

Just save it for a raceway. You can go for a single day with a helmet, check or Porsche club trackdays.
