Yes that is correct! I did inform Brian of this. I now have a 2nd set on my Work rims for summer and the OEM rims have what they car came with. I can now switch from summer to winter rims with out having to see the dealer i had winter rims that i just sold and would have the dash lights...glad i found the TPMS on ebay for 100$ well worth it

I was just wondering if they charged you extra when you brought your mew rims and tires to get balanced? I have ordered the tpms for $100.00 myself and have my rims and tires on the way. I just need to get the 2nd set programed and I will be set.
THANKS FROM EVERYONE ON THIS SITE YOU HAVE BEEN GREAT.
I must say I did not know about this site for years and I was on the
lexus owners club and this site is WAY more helpful. I and many people have asked questions with zero replies for weeks on that site and here people are just so helpful.

I agree! First Forum i have found helpful and have stuck around.

For the rims...If the dealer mounts the tires they will charge you. I went to Discount Tire for that stuff and had them order my tires. I only had TPMS done at the dealer. Just make sure you right down all the numbers from each Sensor clearly so they can program at the dealer. I have read on here many dealers will charge up to 150$ for this service. I have a relationship with this dealer and another member on here also referred me in. All i can say is it doesn't hurt to ask! Even if they charge its much better then having the lights on the dash

Make sure you post us some pics once you have your rims on and let us know what your dealer does for this service

I will post pic's for sure in my other thread .
I go to a quality local guy to have my wheels and tires installed so if he does the installation and then I can go to Lexus to have them programed? You said write down the numbers of each valve also ?I am hoping that since I haven't paid in full for my RX I can get the salesman to through in programing my second set of tpms.
Or should I take my wheels , tires ,and tpms to my dealer and have them do it all?

Yes have your sales person take care of this I would go to your tire expert to have them installed! my sensors had two #'s...one was the same on each one while the other was different on each. I know we don't have TPMS to detect where they are but just in case i wrote where each one was big and clear along with the # that was universal between each. I didn't ask if they needed both but be safe as they are in the tire/rims at that point. Plus i see its for an RX and that may be a little different then the IS. Its a pretty simple process for the dealer.

I actually went to my local Toyota dealer to install my new rims/new tires/sensors from Ebay & do the TPMS programming. Best part they only charged me $99 for everything. If you go this route, first make sure they can mount the size tire you have and get a quote & make sure you have the fitting kit for each sensor (thats what I was told), its about $5 each from Toyota.

Now theres another thing I haven't heard about.... a fitting kit. I actually have a friend that runs a Toyota dealership so that might help. Of course I don't feel to good asking since I didn't buy a Toyota. =(. Anyway keep the info coming so I can do all this in one fail swoop. here is my tpms for my rx 350

PS,my rims are 19x8" tires are 255x55x19 should be no problem correct?

Did you guys have to get adapters for the sensors? I just bought some rims as well and about to order the sensors on ebay too but dont know anything about these sensors. I didnt know putting on rims was this difficult.

I've found adapters from Iforged but does dealership or Discount Tire sell adapters?

Bought mine on ebay and dealer installed them because they need to program the new sensors anyway but I would go to a tire store and get them mounted then go to dealer to have them programed it would be cheaper.
No you don't need anything else just click on the link above from ebay I don't think you can beat that price.

Default Tpms 1.2 diy pipe bomb

Found this stuff a Lowes seems to work. Will seal endcap airtight.

This is for one of the last steps in making a TPMS Pipe Bomb.

1 Place glue on MALE end of sensor/.
2 Screw sensor into PVC pipe
3 Let Dry
4 *Important step* Enjoy for 8 months and running without any refill of air.

Hope this helps.....

Moderator: I tried to add this at the end of the DIY on but it would not let me.

Default Question on programming (2nd set)

I have part numbers #42607-33021 TPMS

but each of the (2nd set) of sensors have a different serial number.
Do these Lexus brand sensors have to be programmed by a Toyota/Lexus dealer or will they just work with the second tire setting in the computer of the car?

My first Pipe bomb used the old sensors. The 2nd set were purchased on Ebay

Thanks for the help
Frank

you do have to go to your dealer. They did mine for free so just ask to see what they will do for you. It takes a few minutes for them to do this. Write down both numbers on each sensor just in case they need it and I would indicate where each one is located just incase there is any troubles so you dont have to take all the rims apart to find a bad sensor or resolve any problems.

Default Scan TOOl

Called the dealer they want 100 bucks and I have to make an appointment.

What about a $100-$200 scan tool to activate the sensors. Anyone had any luck with this route? The reason I ask if you want to avoid the trip to the stealership, say you have the sensors in the pvc pipe method, the dealer will give anyone a hard time. Violates fed. regulations. Plus you can leave the OEM sensors in the stock rims and tires and avoid damaging them.........

I think this would be better for all of us in terms of long term wheel changing and such.

Thanks Frank

There is some other new expensive technology out there that some wheel shops are buying these days..
But nothing you would want to go out and buy yourself. You would spend lots of money for a one time use.

But as far as the dealerships they use their Lexus / Toyota TIS Techstream Laptop interface..
Which plugs into the OBDII port under the dash..

Maybe try a Toyota dealership.. Just let them know you need to register 4 new sensors as your 2nd set.
or
Try another Lexus Dealership.. Should not take more than 1/2 hour, but they usually like to bill for an hour when it comes to TPMS programming

Usually, they will not register them unless they are installed in a set of wheels.

You don't need other numbers written down..

The system will only take the 7 digit Transmitter ID of the sensor.. See below photo for example.
(larger font size set of numbers in white)

Good Luck
