I'd say yes.The dealer would be nuts to turn off your DRLs if it meant no highs.

I think the switch is indicating DRL/Off. In other words, it turns off the regular lights, and turns on the DRLs.

Check it out and let us know - I bet it doesn't turn off DRLs.

It does turn off the DRLs when switched off but you then have no 'Auto' lights set and will have to turn the DRL off again every time you put on the parking or headlights.
The DRLs are not automatically turned off all the time.

This is correct. If you set the switch to "DRL Off" you lose the Auto headlight funtionality but the DRL's are actually turned off.

Im a little confused, What does that really mean? i need to go to the dealer to replace some parts under warranty and planned to get the DRL's turned off at the same time.

So does that mean when i put the lights on auto, the DRLS wont turn on but it will still turn on the parking lights/headlights when it gets dark?

If the dealer turns off your DRLs,every other light setting works the same as it does now.The DRLs will only be off all the time.

Do Not be confused....

"Buds" statement & discussion with "Joeb427", are directed towards the Toyota Camry.....

This makes total sense to me: Headlight = OFF / DRL = ON in this position. Look at the original post--there's no plain "OFF" switch. It cannot be that Toyota designed the headlights that the DRLs only come on when the parking/auto setting is chosen.

OFF/DRL means all lights are off. Off means off on everything

Auto means that when there headlights are off the DRL are on. If the headlight some come on the DRL go off. Hope it clears things up.

My friends Camry does that.

As quoted from the 2007 Toyota Camry owners manual:

Daytime Running Light (DRL) system
The Daytime Running Light (DRL) system
can make it easier for others to see the
front of your vehicle during the day. The
DRL system can be helpful in many different
driving conditions, but they can be
especially helpful in the short periods after
dawn and before sunset.
The DRL system will make your headlights
come on at a reduced brightness when:

1. The ignition is on with the engine running.

2. The light switch is in the “AUTO” position
with the headlights off or position 1

3. The parking brake is released.

To turn on the other exterior lights and
instrument panel lights, twist the **** to
position 1.
Twist the **** to position 2 to turn the
headlights to full intensity for night driving.
To turn off the DRL system, twist the ****
to the position 3 (“DRL OFF”) or turn the
ignition switch off.
The daytime running light system can be
disabled. For details, contact your Toyota
dealer.
