Hey my first post here so go easy on me if I screw up, excellent forum BTW.
Okay i am in the market for a 2006 IS350, def. set on smoky granite mica. trying to keep it under $33k and 30K miles which is tough with all the following options.
I am looking for sport pkg, nav, and preferably ML sound. I would love the G-spider wheels but they are rare. Here's my question:
If a 2006 is has the PCS option, does it have the radar cruise control? I found a '06 on Cars.com that is: "FULLY LOADED with the Sports package: navigation system, reverse camera, parking sensors, front and rear side airbags, Multi-disc CD changer, Bluetooth, collision detection system",
I asked the guy if he liked the radar cruise feature and how well it worked and his reply: "There is also no adaptive cruise control with the 2006 model. I think you can only get it with the 2007. It does however has VDIM." I thought for sure PCS inherently meant that the car also has the radar cruise.
Maybe he is confusing "collision detection system" with VDIM?
Many people think their car is "fully loaded" when it has all the options but PCS. I seems that few, very few IS automobiles have the extra cost option of PCS. It was available in 2006 but from I've been able to discern it only came on cars when the customer special ordered it. I have not heard of a car just sitting on a dealers lot that had PCS. Maybe..... but not likely unless it was a special order that was in turn rejected by the person that made the original order. I special ordered mine with it. When the dealer and I wrote the order he asked if I was sure I wanted that option.......that no one was buying it for the IS. I said "Yes, make sure and order it". I waited, the car came, and have not ever regretted it. It is trully a great addition to a great car.
All this to say that it is unlikely that this car has the PCS system.
PCS does have adaptive cruise control, so you might want to find out more details before committing to the deal. Get the VIN and have the dealer run it for for its list of options. BTW, Fully loaded means the car is equipped with EVERY single option the manufacturer offers for that model. In the IS's case that would mean Luxury/sport package, ML with NAV, Pre-crash system, Intuitive Park Assist, Headlight cleaners, and Value Package.
Yeah i have really noticed that people liberally throw the "fully loaded" term around in their listings online. The good part is that I am in no hurry so hopefully when the right comes up for sale Ill be ready. I know I am set on Sport Pkg and Nav, I might have to become flexible on the color/ml soundsystem. I am not too surprised cus Ive been doing a lot of research and I have a good idea on the options, but this guy doesn't know what he has
I have found SGM is quite hard to get w/the options i want, ill keep my fingers crossed. ML is also hit or miss. Radar Cruise IMO is freaking awesome but I obviously cannot hope for it.
