Default GPS Doesn't Work In Override

I just did this install and it was very easy. As probably has been everybody's experience, getting the vents off was the hardest part, but other than that it went pretty smooth.

After putting everything back together and driving around a bit, I notice that when I press the "Navi" button to put it in override, it loses the GPS signal and the car doesn't move on the map. I guess that could be how it tricks the system into thinking you're not moving, but wanted to see if this is abnormal

Has anybody else with the override kit had the same experience?

In case it matters, I have a 2006 with the ML/NAV

Thanks

Default iPod Video Playback

Hi,

I'm very new to this and wanted to know if iPod Video Playback was enabled with this kit somehow. I have the integration kit that was installed by the Lexus Dealer. If I get this override kit will I be able to playback video through my Nav system? Thanks in advance.

Any chance of a new group buy on the Prestigious Society kit any time soon. If so, I would be in. I am assuming that the kit works across ISx50 including the IS-C.

I'm in too, let me know if it does indeed happen.

Thanks.

So if you have a 2006 ML/NAV (and thus the software override for destination entry while in motion), is there any real advantage to getting this module over simply cutting the wires? Other than the fact that it's reversible?

It sucks that the VAIS tech unit can't do this. It's crazy to spend $400 for the VAIS tech then $300 for this just to get simple functionality that shouldn't be locked out to begin with.

I tend to agree with you isthrizzy, but Lexus is just trying to protect themselves from the litigation happy society that has become US. Wouldn't it be great if we could just sign a release form and our dealership could unlock this?

Both completely valid points.. There are so many cars that already do this - even my friend's Golf GTI lets him input addresses in to the nav while driving. But what can we do? Apple locks out all iphone users from doing anything useful that all other phone operating systems can do but all iphone users have to accept that fact, it's the same thing. All we can do is find ways to break it or work around it unfortunately.

This company is not on CL vendor's list how are you going to get a group buy from it?

I may have missed it, but I did not see a picture of where you actually mounted the unit. Is there enough room behind the navi to tuck it away?

The software override only allows destination entry while driving. It doesn't unlock DVD/Phone etc. while in motion. For that, you can get the PS module, or cut the wires. For the '07+ models, there is a way to get the software override. Search for hybrid navigation DVD. It's a little tough cuz you need to pull a fuse and you need the 06 and a newer nav disk.

Its tight back there... but it fits..

I actually pulled mine down to right behind and under the ashtray area..

There is a nice little empty hole right there.
