Btw.. Health care is Canada is not that bad and it's free... the vast majority of Canadian prefer our health care to the US anyday.. even with the wait.
I know there are companies out there that do this for people for a fee, which is considerable but way less than the premium you'd pay Lexus if you bought in Canada.
They do all the work and deliver your car to you in Canada. Plus who cares if they don't sell to Canadians? You can just register it in the US and then bring it to Canada... no?

i should be getting my ordered IS250 in december, and like you im pretty pissed about the fact iv payed atleast 9 grand more for my car then an equivalent American consumer would. I called a lexus dealership in Minnesota before buying and asked if there was any way around their policy of not selling a new lexus to a canadian citizen and they snubbed me, telling me the only way would be to buy a used lexus, which is something I didn't really want to look into.
I have had serious thoughts about writing to Lexus canada about this, however i dont want to run the risk of being blacklisted by my dealership lol. Also, even with a well penned and anger filled rant about car pricing, i doubt Lexus canada's reply would be anything more than a typed apology from some lower level secretary.

What's even worse is that Canada not only gets screwed on pricing, but on options as well. The packages are just not flexible up here like they are in the US.
Example 1: If you get the X-Pack, that's all you can get. So if you want luxury options like power everything plus the X-Pack you're out of luck.
Example 2: Nav/ML not available on 250 RWD, ML not available on 250 AWD and even if you fork out the cash for a 350 only the most expensive package comes with nav/ML.

I'm not sure what rights Canadian citizens have in America. I don't think most Americans are aware of this situation with the cars and the prices differences (news to me), sounds pretty awful. Good luck to you guys!
Lexus Canada is on crack. The only way the CDN Distributors will wake up is when they notice sales going way down due to US Imports.
OTD pricing in Canada is crazy, some of it is due to taxes (PST + GST) and this is somewhat okay since there isn't much Toyota or anyone else can do about it. Why is Freight/PDI in Canada around 2x the US cost? Does it cost that much more to cart a Lexus from Japan to Canada vs. the US? Why does the Canadian IS come with 16" wheels, no standard roof, no standard leather, etc.
The simple reality is that if consumer were used to paying more for something, there's no reason to charge them less. If there is no demand (because buyers import more cars from the US) then they will have no choice but to adjust pricing.

Hmm... but for financing it you're paying Toyota interest so it's way higher than if you'd paid outright. The IS350 starts at $47,000, plus another $11,000 for a the full lux/nav/ML package. That's still only $58,000 which is far from $70, but still a lot higher than the low 40's Americans are paying.
And I agree... not too much discounts in Canada it seems compared to the US. If you look at the discount off MSRP thread you see a lot of US members saved a few thousand quid, whereas here the best you can do is get like $1500 tops.

Actually the tax is more than just 14 percent because the IS is a luxury car. But that tax is paid on all cars from any manufacturer across Canada... even different US states have different taxes, so it's not fair to say an IS350 is $70,000 because it's not.
