Lol ok well glad you found out what it was and all motors make various noises cheap or not even a high end motor will make noises at idle.

I'm not sure if any of you guys notice this but I don't like how the engine idle sounds. It makes this clunky but not loud sound like you can barely hear the motor spinning. I thought it was my car but I hear it on all 2IS, not sure about 08 models. It makes the car sound cheap like Corolla. Aside from that 2IS is amazing car.

Hi there
On one hand many engine's idle sound is unattractive. Some because of the injectors and some because of valves and camshafts. However - I like the sound of my is 250 during acceleration. Unfortunately the IS 350 is not sold in Europe but I can imagine that it sounds even better.

I've heard of some big NVH issues with Cadillac's new hi-feature direct engine V6 in the new CTS also. It sounds like direct injection still has some issues related to noise that still need to be dealt with. Those injectors operate at very extreme pressures.
