The trunk stays unlocked and beeps if you lock the key in the trunk.

Turn off car, open trunk, open glove compartment, turn off valet switch, lock doors with fob, put fob in trunk, close trunk, take metal key with you.

As a regular beach goer, I might as well chime in. I/we also use a surfer type pouch that is small and waterproof. When sitting out or going into the water, I/we keep the key/fob in a pocket of one of the shorts and have the shorts on the blanket, away from the sand and usually under shirts and such. If walking along the beach, the pouch has a clip.

Thanks for all your input. I'll experiment, with pouch and trunk idea. I'm not to sure if the KEY FOB is functional if key is pulled out. We'll see. Thanks again.

When i go surfing, i use the waterproof armpak by aquapac: http://www.aquapac.net/usstore/erol.html . It works so damn well, i soemtimes can't believe it, lol. No issues with it yet and i've been using it for several months now It's always bone dry, even when i swim 10+ feet under water.
