Default Sirius for 06 IS350

I was promised a satellite radio module when I purchased my 06 IS350 in 2006. I was told the module would be out in 6-9 months. Now after talking to a Sirius rep for Penske, the module is available. When I contacted my dealer in Nor Cal, they said the module does not work and they do not have an alternative satellite radio system for the '06 IS350. I have read posts where others had the Sirius system installed a few months ago. Anyone else having the same problem with their dealer as I am? Any suggestions?

The unit that Penske uses (assuming they only use one) sucks. I have it and while the reception is good 90% of the time, that 10% cuts out for no apparent reason. I'll be driving along then I will lose signal.

You can get an XM kit that goes in the trunk and is fully integrated with the radio. Also, this is a FACTORY kit.

Some dealerships sell a Sirius kit, but apparently it is a "modified" kit that requires going to the back of the radio. Obviously, this is not a factory kit for an IS...it is from another Lexus that is modified to work with the IS.

You will have to purchase the hardware and install it in your car first. Then you can pay monthly and have sat radio. See this thread.

Just curious on why the dealer says the kit doesn't work? Sirius never came out for the 2006 IS. Lexus had planned to, but there were issues with the Sirius system in the Lexus vehicles and they all got pulled for the rest of the year. The only choice for 2006 was the XM system. Lexus has started to slowly reintroduce the Sirius system. So far they are only listed for the 2007 model year. We have installed the "new" Sirius systems in some 2007 year vehicles, but no one has asked for one in their 2006 IS, so we're not sure if it would work, but then again we're not sure why it wouldn't work either. There didn't seem to be any major changes to the vehicle. True the 2007 IS has the sharkfin antenna, but thats only for XM. Sirius installs still use the Sigma antenna that installs on the windshield.
