My AAA Insurance
So I got a revised policy for september from AAA... my insurance alone is almost 7k (for a year)...is that bit much?... I have been in one accident in my very first car(suv -due to loss of traction, but only totalled 5 k in damages) before I switched to an audi s4, and now this IS350. But other than that one accident, my record is clean. I am 18 years old and drive about 12,000 miles a year. Just wondering since all my other sibblings even two younger sibblings who just got a SlK350 and a Bmw 335i insurance is only about 3k.

Can your parents adopt me? I'd like to go back in time and replace that 86 Toyota Camry I had as a 16 year old with a nice SLK or 335i... I think that girl I chased for 2 years with no luck would have liked me more... sl*t! :P
And yes $7000 is high, but so is that accident. Saying your record as an 18 year old is clean except for that one accident for $5K is sort of like saying OJ's record is clean except for that small incident back in the day.

Given the circumstances, the price isn't unreasonably high. Your an 18 year old male that drives a powerful 300+ hp sports sedan and has gotten into an accident. What does it matter what your insurance costs? It doesn't affect you since your parents are paying for everything.
I consider my self very spoiled as is. I'm 21 and my parents put 10k down on a 2007 IS250 for me and I financed the rest (23k) over 5 years. I pay for half of the insurance and gas is covered by the company. I hope you truly appreciate how good you have it since all your posts seem to be of you flaunting your parents wealth.

Well I have 3 older sibblings currently in Ivy league schools and they are paying for it all...and they are still paying for all the expenses for 5 of my sibblings and me so we can focus primarily on our education.

That is an extreme exageration. I think anything below $3K for asionfob would be amazingly cheap. I'm a married 36 year old male with a perfectly clear record, no claims, multi-car discount, and multi-policy discount (boat and home-owners), and my annual premium with full coverage is almost $1K. It was over $1600 per year with State Farm (no discounts).
Asiamfob, it sounds to me like you should go for a much higher deductible since your parents obviously have money.

You've driven an SUV, S4 and now an IS350 and barely at the age of 18? WOW is all I have to say on that.
As for the insurance, $7k is pretty high but considering you got into an accident on your first SUV at a age 16-17 and then recently driving a sports sedan with 300hp at age 18, it sounds just about right.

Back in high school my friend had a new riced out Celica GT-S. He got all sorts of tickets all the time for fix-its, speeding etc. in a 2 year span. Eventually his insurance averaged $6k a year and he was 1 ticket away from a suspended license. Last I heard he sold the Celica for a G35...the insurance company must be thrilled.

Unless if you are (or have) an 18 year old with an IS350 and an accident history, you can't say that's "too high."
If you do some insurance shopping, as soon as any company finds out that you had an accident and now own a 300+ hp car, they're going to charge you a lot. It can be lowered by $1k, even by $2k at best, but it will not be cheaper than that. Expect no less than $4k a year.
Asianfob, if you want to lower your insurance, you have to do two things: (1) get a car with a 4-cylinder engine, and (2) keep it a sedan instead of a coupe.
