Hypothetical: IS350 vs. Boxster S?

I'm afraid you're gonna have your hands full if that Boxster S pulls mid to low 13's.
On my first time out the best I could do with just under a half tank, tire removed was a 13.76. My buddy's SRT8 300m, was consistently pulling 13.5's. Pics below.

Now mind you, corrected time, considering density I was closer to around a 13.4 or so, but it's all relative. At the very least go take a couple practice laps and search the car mags to verify how fast they say a Boxster S can do the same thing. Good luck, but I wouldn't do it for money, just a handshake. Save your money for boost, THEN go race him again!

Look, 25psi in the rear tires, take all the junk out of the car, spare tire/toolkit/even that cardboard cover thingy, also if your fat find a skinny friends to drive the car and let him practice launches BEFORE you goto the track.
You may beat your buddy out of the neighborhood, but I'm not sure you'd do it in the 1/4.
Haha, thanks for all the advice, everyone. I think the margin for error is much greater in a manual trans than automatic, i.e. bad launch on my part won't be as costly as a bad launch on his.
Good point about the tire pressures, removal of spare tire, 1/4 tank, etc. All stuff I probably would've forgotten. I weigh 170, so I don't think that should be an issue.

Also, I'm not all about what the magazines say. For example, I took my Elise and had my brother in my IS, and it's DEAD even. Granted, to get the magazine 0-60/1/4 mile times (which are 4.4 and 13.2, I believe) you have to drop the clutch at 6,000 RPM.
taking out all the junk will give you some advantages.....but it's the DRIVER that matters......

honestly why race a IS...just go buy a cheap 4 banger evo and go have fun hitting 10's in the 1/4 with like about $4000 invested.

Only one 2007 Boxter (not S) on there, that did 14.1.
I did 13.679 in my IS350 with spare tire, and golf clubs in the trunk, 1/8 tank of gas, street pressures in tires. Be sure to turn off your A/C, too. Your first run of the day will likely be the best one, so get everything right before you start. Sounds like fun!

VIP- nobody's saying that either car is ideal for drag racing. The fun of the bet is that it's not easily discernible which is faster in a straight line, in case you missed that point. And for what it's worth, yes, it'll be on a drag strip. But as long as you're on your "street racing is evil, etc., etc." soapbox, you should probably just cover all your bases and harp on the dangers of text messaging/cell phone talking/eating/smoking and driving, while you're at it.
streetracing is as bad as going 90 on the freeway, it just depends on the environment of the situation. I bet these guys are going to an area where nothings around and the only thing they can harm are rodents.
that being said i think you would win cause i bet money that the boxster's launches wont be that great on a street with debris on it. Plus the clutch will start to heat up and wont engage as well after a few rounds..
