If you know the right people and right places, anything can be done under warranty even if it's been hacked. I can't elaborate further than this but when you do something like hacking into the car's electrical system, you have to be prepared for the risks and know how to get around fixing it.

For those that are weak in the stomach, it's better to nix the hack.

This could not be more true. As with all things in life, it's who you know, and what they can do for you without getting in too much trouble.

FWIW, here's retail list price for the multi-display:

Display system, is350 2006 $5,897.62

It would really suck to have to pay to replace it.

And mine is as stock as can be, but I do have the software override and I use it frequently.

Yeah I guess if you have a friend that works in a dealership that doesn't mind taking the chance of losing his job, you can get anything fixed under warranty. Me personally, wouldn't ask a friend to put his livelihood on line.

I think we can all agree on that. Unfortunately that's going to be the norm I think going forward. Lexus just may be ahead of the curve.
