Absolutely true. When something is further away, it appears smaller. Look at the measurements of the width of the two parking spaces, which are probably the same size:

This was exactly the intention of my post. You hit the nail right on the head.
Man, I spent a good 10 minutes in the parking lot looking at the cars from different angles and I just couldn't find an angle where the G35 would look good. Here is an another picture from a different angle (closer to the IS) but the Infinity sill looks bulkier. Well either way.... beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

One more angle. Notice how simmilar the wheels look (the ones on the Infinity are 17")

Why is this an issue? I feel insulted when the fat lady at work parks her Kia next to my Lexus. At least you got an Infiniti next to you.

I was just being funny. I don't care if a Yugo is parked next to me but it was kind of interesting to see the main competition to the IS parked right next to me. It was also a chance for me to compare the two. I know the lady that ownes that car (very nice person) and we talked about why she went with the G35i. She said that she also considered the IS and the 3 series but decided on the Infinity because she did not think the BMW would be reliable and didn't get the IS350 because she wanted all-wheel drive. I mentioned that she could've bought an AWD IS250 but she said that she wanted more power.

IMHO that car is cheap.

I had the opportunity to drive one for a week while I was out in Napa. The engine noise coming into the cabin is equal to my sisters Honda Civic.

But I guess its not that fair of a comparison. Lexus is more expensive

I test drove the 2007 G35 Sport ("S") when I was shopping for a new car, and went away unimpressed. First off, the dealership must have swapped 3 salesmen on me in a matter of 15 minutes. It seemed like no one at the Infiniti dealership wanted to sell me a car.

Second of all, once I finally got in the car (30 minutes after setting foot on the dealership), I noticed that the car did not seem to feel right. It was a bit more sluggish for 300+ hp than what I would normally expect. The interior was horrible, with lots of cheap plastic all over the place, seat controls that were impossible to reach, and lots of rattles everywhere (the car I test drove had only 10 miles on it).

No thanks to Infiniti. They have lots of nice bells and whistles in the car, but the quality is questionable. Take a look at the 2007 G35 to the IS 5 years from now, and there won't even be a comparison.

i would be fine with the infiniti parked next to me, but i can't stand those cutlass supremes and impalas that i see ten million of each day here in alabama. they're raised really high off the ground and have 26s on them. they look ridiculous and the drivers love dancing in their cars while driving. i've grown to love any decent cars with respectable drivers. just my little rant lol. i know what the op is saying though. the IS definitely looks better.
