Default DRL advise please

This is about Daytime Running Lights. Not parking lites/hid/fog.

I dont want to turn them off i just want to make them alittle whiter. I know it runs at half voltage so whatever bulb i change it too, it wont help that much.

My question is, silverstars or some type of PIAA 9005? silverstars are cheeper but if the PIAA is better than the SS then its worth the extra 40bucks to me.

For those who have swapped out bulbs what are your thoughts?

I did try silverstars, and I didn't like it so I put the stock bulb in again. I don't know about PIAA.

Not sure what temperature rating the Lexus HIDs are (you could probably search), but I do know on the BMW boards they use Mtecs, GPThunders, and PIIAs. PIAA are usually a high quality bulb.

I have a pair of GP Thunders on my DRLs. Me personally, I think they are a little bit whiter than stock.

I tried the Silverstars and they look slightly whiter than stock but still yellowish so I switched back to stock.

hehe this is DRL thread not HID thread

For those of you who dont know, HID's are not your DRL, the DRL is a 9005 type light.

DRL used half power of Hi Beam.Anything that you put on Super White bulbs for DRL/Hi Beam you won't get clear white beam at DRL stage, you will get yellowish white beam ( better then stock but still yellowish ). Blue bulbs made white beam at DRL stage. For those PIAA or Silverstar weren't blue enough to make white beam. I have RAZO bulbs are closer enough to get what I want . I am happy with it.

I understand that, I was talking about matching the color of your HIDs...

Well i dont care to match the hid's since the drl's turn off when the hid's come on, i just want a less orangeish drl. Which is why i first said, this is not about hid/parking/fog lites, sorry if that wasn't clear.

I was thinking of doing the same thing on my SC430, I hate the contrast of the white car and yellow DRL's

Update:

Today i went and got some PIAA Xtreme White Plus Bulbs 9005 (hb3) 4000k for about 95bucks... what a waste of money...

On a scale of 1-10, 1stock - 10 what i want which is not yellow but white, the colour change for the DRL was a 3ish... not much, on high beams it looks even whiter than my stock 4300k HID's (from standing up, not gonna bend down and look directly into the lites ). I didnt even bother with a pic with one side changed since i only have my RAZR to take pics with...

Was it worth the money? no. Was it worth the hassle of the driver side swap? no. Will i keep them on? yes. Why? cuz even thou the colour change was only a few ticks up, its still better than stock.
