Default Initial miles - freeway driving

Is it bad to do alot of freeway driving in the first few hundred miles without much city driving?

Dealer told me no cruise control for the first 200 miles..

It isn't bad, but you should be varying the speeds on the freeway.

I changed between 65 ande 75 and 85 mph on the freeway every 5 minutes during the break-in period, with the exception of when a cop is on the road. And I never redlined it during the break in period.

P.S. For Everybody: Please, let's not make this into a "Break-In Debate" thread. Thanks.

My car was broken in with a 500 miles of highway driving. It is at 27k now.

The break in period is a bit overrated in my opinion. I've driven cars through a variety of situations during the break in period, and have always achieved good overall performance over time (gas mileage, etc.).

My IS has mostly highway miles on it, and I have 2300 miles so far. I did vary the driving conditions a bit by driving at different speeds on the highway, but that is it.

I agree!

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't they run the car around the track before it goes on the ship. I don't think they drive it like grandma does.
