If you use the relay, it will not have enough resistance on the line, therefore it will indicate "BULB CHECK FAILURE".

There are so much talk about using the relay as a safety measure. What are your thoughts on it?

I am asking because I purchsed a HID kit for my 2006 Civic, but the kit does not include the relay. I am asking everyone here because you guys are more helpful than the Honda forum members.

my thoughts on it? merely on the build of the ballast.

some ballast require in excess of 10AMPS at PULL, these are typically German Ballast.

some ballast require MAX 10AMPS at PULL, these are typically Japanese Ballast. ie. Denso, Koito, and Matsus_hita.

MAX 10AMPS at PULL do not need a relay harness. OEM Harness is sufficient.

I installed the HID kit this morning without the relay. I turned it on/off many times and no hick-ups. I hope everything will be well.

Anyone out there who didn't used the relay?

Hello,
I would be more than happy to give you a call to help you with your installation. Please PM or email me with your phone number so that I can contact you at.

You do not need to worry about polairy with our products as the kits come with a wiring harness. All you are using the OEM headlight harness for is simply to trigger the relay in our harness on/off.

Steve,

Do all your kits require a relay? Why do some kits don't need it?

Hi,

All of our kits come with a wiring harness.

Harnesses cost money. Most vendors out there not including a relay harness are simply trying to save money by not including the harness. Believe me, if we didnt feel that the kits needed a harness we would not bother including one and save costs.

Some cars may be fine without a wiring harness whereas other cars may experience flickering lights, components burning out, and damage to the stock wiring.

A harness is a good safegaurd. You will not harm the car nor the kit by using a harness. Better be safe than sorry in my opinion.

Steve,

Do you have any firsthand knowledge if using the relay with any of the XD kits will cause the "Bulb Check Failure" Light to illuminate on the IS? Can anyone else comment on their XD packages who used the relay, did you get the light?

Also, will you be getting more 4300k H11 XD Philips kits?

Hi Storm,

We have sold many members on this board our product. We have always used a relay harness. To this date, I have not heard of anyone complaining of any sort of "bulb check failure" message light.

As mentioned previously, there is currenlty no ETA on the H11 XD 4300k kit.
