Lexafer got hurt today
Wow! I'm glad you're o.k.
The car looks bad, and it does seem to have affected the structural integrity of the car (especially after seeing the right rear passenger door and roof line). Make sure than your safety is not compromised if the car is fixed.
I hope all goes well. Keep us informed with the progress...

I normally don't agree with the people that say things like "It will never be the same", since most people say that about just about any accident. However, the wrinkle in the roof and the crooked steering wheel is really bad. I would do everything I can to get out of that car. Especially since it will have great blue book value, and new prices are falling.
I really think you should be driving a rental car since your alignment is obviously REALLY bad. For your steering wheel to be off by 10 degrees, the toe on that rear passenger wheel must be way off. That will be horrible for the tire and wheel bearings, and the insurance company may not replace the tire and bearings.
Lastly, according to this DV appraisal company, you can do a DV claim in New York. You really should hire a company like this to do the DV appraisal and claim BEFORE they start working on the car. That appraisal will help in the final decision about whether to total the vehicle. BTW, DV is a very REAL cost whether the vehicle is leased or not. Also, don't try to negotiate the DV claim yourself. The insurance company will try to convince you that it is only worth pennies, but it isn't. In this case, the DV may be equal to the cost of repair.

BTW, you should also read the lease agreement or call the leasing company to find out how the diminished value will impact you at the end of the lease. If you turn the car in, then they may charge you penalties for the accident regardless of fault or quality of repair to compensate them for the car's diminished value.
I can't believe someone hurt my baby
Glad you're ok. The damage in those pictures sure look like it was done by a vehicle going more than 20mph.
As someone else said, the important thing is your not hurt and still here with us.

Glad you are OK but definitely see an specialist to get checked out.
Neck and spine injuries can take a while to show up, and while the impact might not have been 40 mph, it was a heck of a lot more than 20 mph!
It certainly won't hurt if you have to do any negotiating with the insurance guys.

Saw Cathy and Lexafer today.. I am glad you are ok Cat first and foremost. The damage to the vehicle appears to be extensive.
I believe the frame was bent in this accident as the energy of the impact caused a sharp crease in the roof area. Total loss imo, and a good insurance adjuster should be able to declare it as such.. The guys who posted made some valid points as well
Good luck sweetheart, and stay strong
