Question Preferred Oil?

Yes i know there are several threads on this, but preferences change so i thought i'd ask again. Theres also the fact that you can use 5w-20 now, so i was just wondering which do you prefer.

Basically, what oil would you recommend? I'm at about 13,500 right now and getting my oil change at about 14,000

I currently use Mobil 1 5w-30 but for some reason the car feels more sluggish than when i had Quaker State 5w-30. Both were full synthetic.

Thanks in advance

I just got the tool to remove the oil filter and I am getting ready to do the 1st oil change. Where do you guys get your oil filters? Any place online to get them? I hate going to the dealer for any thing......

I think I am going 5-20

Default Valvoline SynPower

Its Synthetic, easy to find the correct weights, 5w-20 & 5w-30, at Autozone, wally world, and monkey-auto(advance Auto) and its not exxon/mobil-1.
It was somewhat reasonably priced, but all oil has went through the roof in price recently. Pic was taken before Toyota Oil TSB specifying 5w-20.

Anyone recommend Pennzoil or Quaker State here?

(I think I've read somewhere that they're made by the same company o_0 ...)

If Im right, Pennzoil is the OEM synthetic oil they use. Im going to use Royal Purple, Ive always used it on my other car. Seems to work really well IMO.

What does it matter what others prefer? Follow the manufacturer's recommendations and you can't go wrong. These are based on thousands of hours of engineering by qualified and experienced mechanical and lubrication engineers based on testing in conditions far beyond your normal day-to-day driving conditions. Trust them...it is what your warrantee is based on.

The chaces of you feeling a "sluggish response" based on different oils is close to nil. Change your oil and filter as per Lexus recommmendations and move on.

Royal Purple helps keep the engine temperature lower or something.

Some Porsche people were talking about how amazing it was.

But I dunno if you need to get that unless you drive your car aggressively everyday . . .

Damnit! I gotta find the tech articles . . .

The TSB says 5w-20?

I thought it was 10w-30 before and now it's 10w-20?

Can anyone tell me what the correct numbers are?

I'm driving the '07 IS 250 AWD

I'll be switching to Synthetic at or around 15,000.

I'll post the brand when I find the damn articles
