I suspect the wing, in addition to many other body panels, is vacuum-impregnated or pre-preg carbon fiber. It probably weighs less than 10 pounds with paint. I saw a race-prepped CTS-V a while back that had full-carbon bodywork, and the door (normally a 60+ pound item) weighed in at 4 pounds.

Hey guys,
Here's the deal. This was going to be one of five new Team Lexus ALMS GT2 IS350's. Three of the cars were built, one was completed and two were in various stages of completion. The whole car with exception to the quarter panels and frame are made from carbon fiber. The wing isn't quite as large as it looks in the rendering but it was made to hold somewhere between 600-650lbs of down force. Hence the size.
The issue was that despite our great relationship with Lexus over the past 9 years, TRD wanted control of our program. Now I'm going to have to beat around the bush on this, but despite all efforts and over a years worth of R&D Lexus decided to shut down the Team Lexus race program indefinately.

Apex, do you know if the GT2 car can be easily converted for use in the Japanese Super GT (JGTC) racing series? If so, someone w/ connections in Japan should call up the Toyota/Lexus teams over there and see if they would like to purchase it and make use of this thing. The SC430 and IS350 tag teaming that series would be ridiculously insane!

God I hate that some many miles only to be stoped inches from the finish line.
