i meant on the sensor itself...or did you install the sensors already?
im starting to think that all the toyota/pacific sensors with the 7 digit HEX ID will work on any toyota/lexus. The differences in P/N are for the specific wheel it fits on.
thats what im guessing...wish there was a way to program the sensor yourself without the dealer computer.
I gave my set to my buddy for his winter rims and he has a new replacement set for me, so maybe this weekend I'll pick them up. Lobuxracer will confirm this but you need a very expensive computer that the dealer has to program the ID numbers into the ECU, it's CN$80.00 to have it done at my dealer.
lobux...does your friend know if the sensors are car specific? or do you just need the ID #s to program it?
right now i know they are rim specific because of the way they fit but if we are putting them in aftermarket wheels it wont fit exactly anyway.
I'm really curious about your second statement. Does Toyota make a TPMS with a different valve angle compatible with our (IS350) system? If so it may cure allot of after market wheel headaches!
jet are you a tech or just have experience with tpms?
all the pacific sensors ive been looking at all seem to have similar ID numbers that is why i thinking they all can be programmed to the TPMS system.
but it seems they changed something for all cars made after 04/06 since sewell lists a new P/N
the part number got updated for mid production year in 06 but the sensor looked the same when i compared and it still required the 7 digit code to program it to the ecu. if the frequency number are the same 7 digit type, i dont see why it wouldnt work from toyota to lexus since all the interface are pretty much the same.
I just purchased a new GX470 this week and swapped out my Chrome Lexus Wheels which I just had new Michellins installed on three weeks ago. The tire store when changing my tires broke two sensors and the dealer replaced them. Today I moved my new Lexus Rims & Bridgestone Tires to my 2004 and took the 2004 rims and Michellins to my new 2007. I expected to see the TPMS light come on and was planning to take both cars to the dealer for new programming of each TPMS since the sensors were moved form each vehicle, but at this time no light is lit on either vehicle. Now I wonder if they are the same type and codes in each vehicle or in time will the light come on. Today I drove the 2007 GX about 30 miles, still no light on. Anybody have any thoughts.
ok after doing alot of research and looking at various TPMS sensors from Pacific(OEM manufacturer). I even bought a set from an 07 Camry I have discovered these things.
the pre-april 06 TPMS
Toyota P/N 42607-30030 have an FCC # of PAXPMV1017 and IC # 3729APMV1017 (i saw a picture of this label the last digits might be different couldn't tell)
the post-april 06 TPMS
Toyota P/N 42607-33021 have a FCC # of PAXPMV107J and IC # 3729APMV107J (i have these in hand and saw another set with the same numbers for an 07 Toyota)
if anyone has any of these in hand can you post a picture and the numbers on the label...it would help us figure this out.
Toyota uses several different TPMS for steelies and alloys which have different valve angles i believe. but the electronics should be the same inside the sensor and if its going in an aftermarket wheel...it won't always fit perfect anyway.
Another interesting note about finding cheaper sensors...Honda/Acura uses the same TPMS system in their new vehicles. All 07 MDX, RDX, and TSX use the Pacific Sensors. I have not gotten my hands on these but from the ones I saw on ebay they look to have the same manufacturers numbers on them.
If anyone would like to experiment and get a set of these and see if they are the same part and programmable to the Toyota/Lexus system. Let us know...a set of the Acura ones cost as much as 1 Toyota TPMS and it looks to be the SAME part.
Wait a minute.. So, does lexus use the same tpms sensors that are used on toyota? or I'm just lost here on this thread.
We know that the part# on Toyota tpms sensors are P/N 42607-30030 have an FCC # of PAXPMV1017, but how about lexus ones?
I am pretty sure that there isn't such tpms sensors with 'LEXUS' stamped on, but if they are the same tpms sensors, we should just bring the code/SN to lexus dealer and have them program it. I just hate the way Lexus made everything to make money off of... wish they made it possible for car owners to program by themselves, so that we can actually use the tpms feature for our safety, not putting them into wheel barrel.
Toyota, Lexus, and Acura all use the same Pacific Brand TPMS sensors. They all have the same IC ID and FCC ID depending on manufacturing year. This tells me the electronics inside the sensor are the same.
The only thing I think differs is maybe the valve angle depending on what wheel it is installed into. the stamping on the sensor itself tells you which year its for.
PA66-GF60 is stamped on the Pre April 06
PA66-GF66 is stamped on the Post April 06
Now, I see your point.
Although those sensors were manufactured by the same company, they look different. If someone can guarantee that they can be programmed by lexus, I really would like to try the ones for acura, since they are much cheaper than the lexus ones..
All it takes is someone to spend $90 and have a connection at Lexus that can try to see if the car registers them.
It would save everyone around here over $250 on sensors alone. BTW these sensor probably only cost about $10-$15 each from the OEM manufacturer...but they mark it up like crazy.
