Default Silver CF kit installed (pictures)

Since no one wants to post pictures of their Silver CF kit installed. I guess I will. The only thing I did more than the DIY blow was that I placed more 3M tape on the locations where there is none. That makes the CF not flex when you push it. It feels ROCK solid!

The window trims fits better than the center, but I am happy.

The red does peak through, but it is not a big deal to me. I tried the black tape, but decided against it.

Here is a good DIY.

Looks good! I had the same thought about putting on extra tape to minimize flex but found it wasn't necessary. The trim is sufficiently thick so that it doesn't flex even just using the tape supplied. But obviously more tape wouldn't hurt either. I didn't use the black electrical tape as an underly on the edges either, but found it wasn't necessary with the metallic paint I had as standard.

With all the buzz when the CF first hit the market I'm surprised there hasn't been more feedback and installation stories (and pics).

Looks great!

So this CF overlay kit just sits on top of the existing wood trim? You didn't have to remove the OEM wood trim?

Does it "hurt" the wooden trim???.....I mean, can I remove it later on and the wooden trim remains intact??

Theoretically you should be able to remove it, but I believe you should approach this change as permanent. The tape really sticks and the CF is well trimmed with turned down edges so getting under there to remove it is going to be a chore. Not that it couldn't be done with fishing line and some heat, but I wouldn't look forward to doing it. I believe the CF would be damaged in removing it, but the wood underneath should be ok as it is covered in a shiny urethane type finish. Just don't use any sharp objects that could scratch that finish.

Here is a pic of the driver's side CF. How do you get underneath the trim to lever it up? Difficult at best.

That's correct, you don't have to remove the OEM wood trim.

I've used this type of product many times and currently have it in my SC. To the guy asking if it's removable, yest it is. You have to really take your time and it should be heated. There should be no damage underneath. One concern. They don't make cars like they used to. I took off the overly from my 94 J30 with no proble. It's a very solidly built car and everything is tight. When I changed the overlat on my SC, the console was coming apart. Modern, up to date Lexi are even less solid inside. I'd be really careful trying to remove this stuff. Heat it up really good with a hair dryer.

What made you decide to not take off the original wood trim first?
