If they're fixing the problem, why would you be furious? I don't get that. Put all your commuting miles on their loaner, and just be patient. I can think of more important things to be worried about.

Agree with what the others are saying. At this point let Lexus do their thing and repair whatever is wrong. BUT, I would want to know exactly what they are doing and what exactly is wrong with the engine. I'd be asking serious questions.

You can't blame the problem on the fact that a GIRL owned the vehicle before you, or that she didn't get her service done until 5,600 miles which is an insignificant overrun on the service schedule. The problem could be a factory defect, or it could be due to abuse. That is why I would want to know exactly what is wrong with the engine. At least then you would have an idea whether the fault lies with Toyota, or if it's due to the previous owner.

Good luck and keep us informed as to the outcome.

Interesting. Have you gone back to look at your car? Most lexus dealerships do not do engine/tran rebuild work from what I was told.

I could see being disappointed that you just bought a car and it's in the shop. But I'd be ecstatic that it's under warranty, getting repaired at no cost, and you have a loaner. I'm not really seeing much of a down side.

That's the IS250 TSIB repair. The engine isn't half apart, but it is about 1/3 apart. The cams are out, the rocker arms and valve lash adjusters are out, and a bunch of top end stuff is being replaced.

Calm down. A number of people on this board have had this work done, and it does fix the issue. It's warranty work, and you get to abuse their car while it is being done. What could be better?

Default I've Got An Update On My Car !

I just got off the phone with my service advisor (Weird how I just come onto the forum and post huh lol ?)

The reason my car has problems with the engine valves is because they're sticking and not moving properly to accomodate piston movement. My service advisor said that this was caused by the 5W-30 oil they use at the dealership for oil changes and maintenance. He said the dealership now used 5W-20.

SO THEREFORE...Retainers and valve springs must be replaced,..as well as reordering Head gaskets and other gaskets in the engine (Verbatim as per service advisor)..

So there you have it. My car's engine IS NOT taken apart, it's sitting in a covered garage..but the parts are on major back order...So I guess I'll just have to wait it out...I miss my car

That's bull. There is no way the 5w-30 oil viscosity is causing the problem.

I call that bull as well, you can even put 10w-40 and have no problems at all.

They use 5w-20 just plainly for SLIGHTLY better gas mileage.

Exclamation

LoL..I've become an overnight celebrity at that dealership..

and get this..

Last night, I was driving and another car made me swerve off the road making me hit someone's trash can along the sidewalk (Hit the right passenger side view mirror,..now the mirror from my loaner's screwed up)..Tried to get the person to stop, got her license plate and let the cops deal with it...but now I'm the one who's screwed into paying the damage for the loaner..Can you imagine that ?? what luck ! and on top of it,..the entire mirror assembly costs $590 according to the dealer...Deductable for my insurance is $500 for accidents/collision...so I might as well just pay the dealer to get the loaner fixed w/ out having my insurance involved...I requested to be put in another loaner cuz the mirror's messed up..and they didnt have any left...PLUS! They wanted to me to drive MY car (the IS) until the parts come in...I tell them.."Me, drive my car...w/ f***ed up valves ?? Hell nooo!..

PS: The mirror on my loaner's not completely screwed up..just the glass is popped out and the entire assembly for movement is broken. The exterior folding is intact.

Would this affect the IS250 AWD?
