I would just make my spare my main key and relegate the scratched one to spare status.

Exactly, I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Exactly, cars(and its keys) are just like humans. They both get scratched and scarred, its life. You can't expect your body and car to be perfect forever, that's why I don't see why people fuss over the littlest things, just be grateful your car was totalled or something to that degree and move on.

you say that, but im 100% positive if i had instead said i was at work and it some how got caught into a machine and it defaced the key, that i would have gotten different responses, i would have at least been treated with respect rather than " GO TAKE IT TO A SHOP AND LET INSURANCE DEAL WITH IT ".

Maybe try some Meguiar's Plast-X if the scratches aren't too deep. It might lessen their visibility anyway, if it won't remove them all. You can get it at just about any place that sells car dealing stuff.

But if you try it, be careful. It might just take the finish off the case, which would probably look worse than some scratches!

I'm young just like you so I don't jump to any conclusions, but some do, and you just have to deal with it. If you wanted a serious response you should have posted pics. How are we suppost to know the extent of the damage without pics? Words can only go so far.

You're over-reacting... To be honest, my first thought, before I even read your post, while merely reading the title was "ummm.... so what?" and when I read your post, my thoughts were "are you kidding me? Did this guy really start a new thread becuase he scratched his key?"

I was going to keep my thoughts to myself, but after seeing how you have convinced yourself that the responce is due to the skateboard, I had to chime in. As much as you'd like to think so, the indifference has nothing to do with your skate board. It has to do with... well, exactly what it is, indifference. Like I said in my last post, no one is really too concerned about a scratched key.

your post makes sense, and im glad you contributed, but please realize i was not directing anything at you. perhaps you skipped over the post that said "we should start a poll to see how many IS owners ride a skateboard". maybe im misinterpreting but all i gained from that statement was that "people who drive Lexus' shouldnt skate." what about you? then again he could just mean, i have a fast as **** car. i should drive it. and in that case id feel like an idiot. and id like to believe that as much as possible because i have nothing but respect for evitzee, but let's get real. i doubt that's what he meant.

I know you weren't directing anything towards me.

I'm trying to get you to understand that the only person who thinks the skateboarding has anything to do with the responces is you. Nobody else cares if you were skateboarding, riding a bike, playing video games or ballet dancing. Well, maybe if you were ballet dancing...

uh, the insurance thing was just a joke, as that is the procedure for a scratched car... (over $2000 for a profesional job, if anybody is curious)

and to think I was about to post in jest a comment saying that 16 year olds can't handle Smartkeys without more experience....

You're being way too sensitive about this. I mean, your key got scratched. It works. Cover it with something, replace it, use the other one, or do nothing. Either way, it's not a big deal...

I'm sorry about my earlier indifference. I should have cared more and showed the sympathy that your key deserved.
