I just wanted to say XD kits are the best out there. I have them on my IS for over a year and there were no single problem. I have 6000K kit and they looks so pretty!

Default How can i find out if I have HID?

I need some assistant over here.

I'm a second owner of the IS350. How can I find out whether my car has HID or not? My low beam light come in with a "ball" class that you see on most 2IS. I cannot see the actually light bulb itself as oppose to the high beam. Anyway, I'm curious whether that ball class is a HID or not.

Thanks in advance!

To the bottom left on your steering wheel there is a switch. Switch through it and see if you have the AFS feature. If you do then you have factory HID's.

Its the autoleveling feature and the beam moves left or right on curvy roads for you to see the road better.

If you have a base IS350 then you don't have factory HID's.

To test this. At night set your headlight switch to "Auto", start the car and look at the headlight beam in front of you. If you see the beam autoleveling itself (the beam going down and up, and then stopping). That means you have the oem HID w/AFS.

Thanks gsrthomas! I guess I don't have HID.

I can't believe that we spend almost 40k, just to find out that HID does not come in standard.

Here I come XD (Steve)...But, I'll have to find a place to install it first before I place an order.

Actually, I'm located in Nor Cal (The great capital city of CA) to be exact.

Stig,

I remebered from your classified ads, you mentioned that you're from Berkeley. Where did you get your XD 6000K installed and how much was the installation?

Thanks!

When you switch to HID, do you switch out your day/running lights too? doesnt it look strange with some blue/clear lights and some yellowish? can someone post pics of their lights? Also how much is the difference in brightness between the 4 and 6000k? sorry to ask so many questions but i'm thinking about switching to HID also.

U cant really tell the DRL is there when you're HID is on. You can always change the DRL bulbs to White or blue, but that will defeat the purpose of DRL. I just received my Xtreme 3000k. I'll try to post some pic with my XD 6000k kit after i finish.

Hello,

No, you do not need a conversion kit to upgrade your low beams if you have OEM HID. Alot of people on this board have been using our conversion kits to upgrade the fogs though to HID.
