Quote: ^^^couldn't find an appropriate place to tactfully mount a nice external touchscreen. really would have liked to use the nav but not possible.
i have an archos 504 mp3 player, that i sorta custom mounted where the coin holder/cigarette lighter is.

if you were to mount a screen there like i mounted my player, i bet it would work great.

i'll try to take a pic later on today and post it.

looking forward to a nice picture.

i'm all for installing a carputer but one of the first things to consider was screen location and i'm not about to install anything that appears "tacky." If I could somehow integrate the screen into backside of the passenger visor, that would work.

If you're dead set on installing a carputer, why don't you just use a wireless keyboard that you store away when not in use or the wireless joystick thingies you use for presentations

the docking station is held in there by the pressure... no screwing or any modification to the console itself:

took out the coin tray and the cigarette lighter plug and ran the aux cable from the inside of the console (there is a door you can pop out in there):

im willing to bet you can do more or less the same thing with a xenarc 7" touchscreen and a mac mini or w/e other computer you decide to use.

archos also has another version of this palyer. the 604 wi-fi. it has wi-fi (duh) and its touchscreen (4.3" screen). they have a wired keyboard available for it as well and its 30GB which isnt that much but considering you can access the files on your computer with the wi-fi... that really isnt much of an issue.

i have the archos 504 and its 80gb and they have a 160gb version as well.
