I installed XM on my 2006 by myself. It was pretty easy. The most difficult part, like everyone said was yanking out all of the trunk liners. If you have an 07 with the shark fin antenna, it should be even easier since you don't have to remove the trunk lid liner to run the antenna wires.
I installed the XM myself, and the only issue I have is the reception. I tried placing the antenna on the third brake light and sticking it to the rear glass for better reception. Unfortunately, this has not worked. My next move, will be to place it on the outside for a better reception. I will try to run the wire from the trunk and around the rear glass to the top center of the roof where they usually locate the shark fin antenna. I hope this will work.
Hey kaslead can you tell me where you got the connectors you used for your fix? Instead of cutting the plug from the shark fin how about making an adapter cable with the appropriate plugs on the ends? I want to try to make one that will fit my Terk XMD1000 (yes, XM not Sirius!). That means on end will plug into the existing shark fin adapter and the other into the Terk Unit which plugs inot the VaisTech adapter. I want to try to install this in the trunk but cannot get a good answer from VaisTech as to whether or not there is anything back there their unit will plug into. In fact the VaisTech people just gave me a short, smartass answer to that question.
Can someone explain what is meant by "re-initializing the one touch up/down windows on all doors" ? Do I just need to go around and press on the windows for each door? Or is there something else I need to do?
