Well, I guess if your options are normal handwash car wash(assuming that it isnt you) and your dealership, dealership might be a better choice. I would rather do it myself. Let me just say that the dealership carwash does not care about the quality of the wash and will use ragged towels to wash and dry, marring the paint of fine scratches and swirls that you probably wont notice unless in certain lighting. Dealership is not well versed in dealing with Lexus paint and if you really think that the carwashing people at the dealership are some great detailers, you are wrong. Maybe it differs from dealerships but that is the case for most of them. Im sure if you are not **** about your paint like I am, dealership wash is a good deal and reduces work. Whatever floats your boat =)

I once asked a Dallas Police Officer (whom I saw in a restaurant) about the front license plate law. He told me that he would not pull someone over for not having a front plate. He said most of his fellow officers feel the same way. I got pulled over the other day in Highland Park in my Accord which does not have a front plate and even though the cop was a total jerk (pulled me over for going 34 in a 30!) he did not give me a ticket for not having a front plate, just a speeding ticket.
My brother on the other hand, got pulled over in his Vette for not having a front plate (IMO Vette's look TERRIBLE with a front plate) by a State Trooper and he made up a story on the fly that he just had his front end replaced in California and they didn't put his front plate back on. Lucky for him, the cop let him off.
All in all, 95% of people without front plates don't get a ticket for it. If you happen to get pulled over by a cop who is on his period, then you'll get a ticket for it, but the odds are in your favor.

99% of corvettes around here dont have a front plate and it continues to be that way, my neighbor had a 92 acura legend when it was new and never mounted the front plate (hes old tho) I dont know if hes been pulled over but sad to say depending on the car Im guessing cops will look and sometimes dont care. For a Lexus I doubt they will care

Ive been driving in Houston for about 9 or 10 years now and I never had a front liscense plate. Before my lex I had a 02 altima. I think they make the car look horrible. My dealer gave me the option with no questions or comments. I think it does depend on the cop. Its a gamble but Ive gotten away with it so far why stop now.

When I picked up my plates at the dealership they gave me the option of not installing the front plates. I had them installed and luckily the front holder blends in with the Smokey Granite color and doesn't look bad... However, I'd have preferred to not had the front plate.

Hey all you Texas people!!! Forgive my off-topic post, but I've noticed that there are several Sewell and Park Place clients posting here. If you're in the DFW area and are interesteed in having a meet, I encourage you to visit the Southwest forum, and post any ideas you may have along those lines in this thread. We're having trouble getting people together, and I think we could get a good showing simply from 2nd gen IS's judging by this thread. Thanks!

Has anyone had any experience with North Park Lexus of SA? I'm just wondering hows there pricing and customer service and if they are strict with the front plate?
