Picking up my IS 350 tomorrow, excited!
Hi guys, got things arranged with my brother in law who is purchasing my old car and I will be picking up my new IS 350 tomorrow after work. I can't wait! I wasn't expecting to pick it up until the end of next week so this is a great surprise ending to my week. I am wondering as I'm sure everyone does who picks up a new sports sedan, how much do I need to baby the engine during the break in period? Do I need to break in the engine? If so for how long and what should I be careful about when breaking it in.

Hey, that's my plan! I'm currently in a 04 TL and plan on switching to an IS350 after I sell a few cars.
I would be very interested to hear your thoughts between the 2 cars.
Was your TL an auto or stick?

you won't miss it after you unwind the 306 hp 3.5l v-6.
i kept my revs on the low side (~3.5k) for the first 2k. after that i kept unwinding it a little bit more. i didn't even hit redline until after my first 5k service. i don't know what the manual says; maybe some of the more car-savvy 2is owners can chime in on this?

After I have the IS 350 for a while I will post a review. I am coming from a automatic TL to the auto. IS 350 (of course what else does it come with).

I so seldom have any passengers in the back that the big backseat room was quite a waste for me. For the few times I have a couple of people in the back they can tolerate the space for the short ride. I won't really miss the space of the TL, in fact, the trunk on the IS is marginally larger.
