Also, make the light intensity/glow of the dash guages, center console, steering wheel, and door buttons all match. The steering wheel illumination sucks...

The steering wheel buttons are supposed to light up??? Mine definitely don't have any illumination at all.

Take it to your dealer. They are supposed to be illuminated. Mine are.

Same here, the gold (more like a "light tan" to me) perfectly matches the cashmere interior. Although once in a while I switch to blue when I'm in a more "sporty" mood. Personally I think the blue works better with black interiors, while the gold better complements tan interiors. Like others have suggested, I agree it would be nice if Lexus offered custom screen colors.

Do you have the panel lights dimmed? The lights on the steering wheel controls are not as bright as the ones on the dashboard - perhaps you are dimming them too much.

Follow up to my previous post:

Just checked and the lights on the steering wheel are not controlled by the panel dimmer. They remain at the same brightness, regardless of the control. The buttons light up green, and are quite visible at night. As I suggested earlier, if yours do not light, I'd definitely mention it to the dealer.

The dashboard dimmer is set to the max, without making it past the click, so that the nav can be in the inverted color mode at night. I have the 250AWD + luxury package. Could that be making a difference?

That's not too far from where I have mine.

Am I the only one here with illuminated steering controls?

The setting is for the touch screen buttons on the nav display. It's on one of the menu screens; don't remember off the top of my head which one, but it isn't hard to find.
