 WHY is right. Why in god's name would you want to put smaller rims on your car? You might as well go up to the IS design team and spit in their face. This is a disgrace. :thumbdn:

You don't live in a snow area .....

I would guess he is looking to put snow tires on those steel rims. Alberta is a bit of a 'snow' area, which folks in TX and FL wouldn't know about.

Lol, good point. We in Texas and Florida are fortunate enough to not have to deal with all that white stuff... what's it called again?

Such negative comments. :egads:

Maybe he has a set laying around and wants to use them for harsh winter months??

Why not?

I actually don't give a rat's pooper what other people think of my car, and wouldn't hesitate slap on a much lighter set of steelies to gain some improvement in performance.

MattyL147 10-11-06 07:50 PM

everyone relax...i wasn't flipping out or bashing paldin, i was just curious as to why someone would do this

Bichon 10-11-06 08:12 PM

You didn't mention which car you have.

The IS350 has larger brakes than the IS250. You aren't going to get ANY 16" wheel to fit on an IS350.

I'm not sure about the IS250.

jsquared 10-11-06 08:16 PM

hmm so back to answering his question... i doubt it would fit, its hard enough to find aftermarket wheels that'll fit over the calipers on the 350. but i could be wrong. do you have pics of the exact ones? and as for 16s on any 2IS... sounds interesting... i think people from other countries might have 16s... so maybe someone internationally will chime in...

jacky28 10-11-06 08:52 PM

i'm wondering too, will it work with a 250?

Paldin 10-11-06 09:50 PM

He guys,
Yea Its called Snow, and Thats why Im looking for Rav4 Steelies. I have a 250 Sport package. I know some guys with 300's up here have used rav4 steelies. Just wondering if they would clear the calipers on a 250.

Tirerack sells 16" aluminum wheels that fit the 250, so I'd say the chances are probably good the Rav's will fit, assuming the bolt pattern is right.

Paldin 10-12-06 09:10 AM

Well the bolt pattern on the Rav4's are 5x114 so it should be good.

I'll be able to find out very soon and I'll let you guys know. I got the steelies on order and I will get my winter rubber mounted up a couple days after that.

jacky28 10-12-06 09:32 AM

Paldin, keep us posted.

Btw, are you planning to install tire pressure sensors on the rav4 wheels also?

Paldin 10-12-06 02:04 PM

Yea actually I'm going down to my dealership today to pick them up, and I'll ask about 16" rims and see it it will work.

Paldin 10-12-06 05:08 PM

Well heres an Update.

I went in and ask for Sensors and the guy asked for what rims and I said the 16" rav4 ones and he said they may not fit and then asked my model. I said 250 Sport and he said no way for fit, becuase with the Sport Model it has the Bigger 350 Brak calipers. He aslo said they've tried to get 17" rav4s on an AWD and I think they worked. Since I still have the 16's on order for tommrrow I'll still give them a try at Kal Tire. if not I think I'm just gonna swap Rubber with OEM rims, I was thinking of getting Aftermarket Rims anyway for summers.

So within the next week I'll see if the 16's fit, if Not if anyone with a 300 wants Rav4 Steelies lemme know and I'll hold on to them.

SILes300 10-12-06 05:10 PM

250 Sports have 350 brakes? I highly doubt it...

Just Quoting what the Dealership told me, hence why I'm still gonna try the 16's

ISbb 10-12-06 08:53 PM

mite be but he juz need something cheap for the winter. No need to go bling bling in snow.

Paldin 10-13-06 01:16 PM

Yes as I reiterate(sp) these are for Winter, If you have to deal with a Winter like we do in Calgary you'll want something too, and rav4 rims are better than normal steelies.

trocade 10-14-06 03:22 AM

16" works on the 250, I got that for my winter tires,as someone said above, no need for the bling in the snow, the rims get black withing 5 minutes.

ISbb 10-14-06 03:25 AM

Sorry if I been misunderstanding of why you putting those 16inch...

meteoro 10-14-06 05:41 AM

the bold pattern is the same, so it will fit the studs. The prob as many have mentioned is with the HUGE brake calipers in the front. Given the clearance we have with the 18's, a few cm's, I highly doubt that the 16" will fit.

On the 250, they should fit, as the brake callipers are very similar if not the same as the 1st gen's. I recall that many used the rav4 steelies on the previous gen.

Do you have the Sport Package 250 or do you have the AWD?

Still my only concern is the Brake calipers, as to quote my dealer "250 sport's have 350 calipers"

Thank you for sharing your info on 16's I'll be trying to put mine on very soon as its snowing as I type this now.

Hey Paldin, do me a favor... Never listen to anything the dealer has to say...

What's next? "Ya, the 250 sport has the 350 engine", sheesh... Goddam dealerships... :thumbdn:

Paldin 10-16-06 01:51 PM

Here's a quick update on this.

canadalexus 10-26-06 07:48 PM

Great news! Did you test fit the TPMS on the Steelie?

Paldin 10-27-06 07:32 AM

The TPMS wont fit on them, but they said if you want them you can install them on the Spare and it wont throw the light.

Apprently the Dealer said it need a specific rim to fit the sensors.

Paldin 11-01-06 03:52 PM

Here are the Rav4's on my 250:
