If you get the X-package with NAV and no Mark Levinson, would it not have DVD?

Well, I'm basically wondering if my car plays DVDs. Do they make different versions of the NAV that doesn't play DVDs? It just says 6 disc changer or whatever. I hope this thing plays DVDs. I haven't got a chance to try it yet.

The only way to play DVDs is to get the Nav/ML Combo Package ($3995). If you get just the NAV, you cannot play DVDs.

The stereo system is SEPARATE from the nav system. The nav system is always DVD-based, but it only accepts a navigation disc, it is separate from the 6-disc in-dash changer.

The 6-disc in-dash changer plays CDs with the stock system, or CDs and DVDs if you get the Nav/ML combo package.

Why do you say you "got screwed"? No where does it say X-package plays DVDs. Didn't you do your homework?

You need package VN (not package ML and package NV, but package VN) to play DVDs.

No, it does not play DVDs.

You need the Nav+ML (VN) combo to have a DVD player.

Your Nav system is DVD based, which means it gets its info via the Nav DVD program, but otherwise does not play any other DVD.

Damn, that's what I figured. Is there no way to upgrade if you already have the car?

Yeah, there's a two step upgrade.

(1) sell car
(2) buy new car

Hmmm. If the cd changer is different than the NAV, how hard would it be to buy an aftermarket deck that plays DVDs, and have it work with the screen?

^^^ yeah there's a lot of discussion about that very topics in a bunch of previous posts. lots of encouraging ideas, too. i think one or two people reported some good progress or at least good information on how to get it done. if you have the backup camera, you might even be able to tap into that. i think someone figured out how.
