If you intend to keep the car for that long I would do it. First time the nav unit has an issue, or something else electrical, it will cost you that much just to have it fixed.

Wouldnt you rather hold onto your $$? IF you have a nav problem, maybe it pays off. Is it a true bumper to bumper extension?? I got the 7 yr extension for my Acura TL--there were a LOT of exclusions--including thr auto dim rear view mirror (even though i found out later there were lots of problems w/it). It didnt come close to paying off.

Lexus makes one of the most solid reliable cars you can find. Save your $$.

Yup $0 deductible. I just went out to my car to look at the paperwork and verify. I paid exactly $1750 for it at my dealership. The original price was $2265 but I negotiated it down to $1750.

i got the extended warranty on my IS as well for 7yr/75k. According to my finance rep its basically an extension of the 4yr/50k warranty, so whatever that covers, the extneded warranty will cover too. Also this is a manufacturer's warranty, not some 3rd party crap like Acura so often does.
I got it for $1450 after the rep initially offered it to me for $2000 and i said go to hell.

That is $310 lower than your price of $1895.

If you can get it for that price at your local dealer... GREAT.. if not,
maybe you can send me a buck or two.. and I will give you the two
contacts I have.

Actually, I have a killer deal for you. My financial advisor says to put my extended warranty money in a medium risk investment.

Not only do I not have to fork over the money early, but I actually earn interest on my money. If a Lexus proves as reliable as they say it is, then I get to keep my money and not prepay for repairs that I may never have.

Planning on financing? Great! Then you save even more when you put the $1600 away in a medium risk investment on the day you buy your car.

When my warranty would have expired, I will have actually made some money assuming I had no major problems. Extended warranties are always a losing proposition unless the cost of your repairs are greater than the $1600 + interest on your loan + interest you would have earned on your money if you would have invested it instead.

Exactly. My Acura Extended Warranty was from Honda Financial, not some third party. One of the 3 times I needed it, they denied me. I even spoke to a rep at Honda Financial. The dealer even thought Honda was wrong, and comp'ed me the parts, and I paid $42 for labor (cheaper than the $50 deductible). There's no way I came close to having enough repairs that justified the $1100 warranty.

If you are that worried, take those dollars and invest them.

I did the 7/70k extended with my dealer. If I do not file a claim against the extended warranty by the end of year 7, I get my $$ back. In writing. Worth the piece of mind. Dealer is happy as they get a no interest loan and can possibly make $ off my $. Seems to be a win win.
