Oh that's good to know.

Well hm... I am almost there... and as of now I am leaning toward the IS350.

Is the IS350 Peaky? When does it get flat?

Any anyone have any dyno charts of the IS350 that are TRULY Tested?

I don't want the dyno charts of the people improperly figuring out torque and hp curves. (Dyno charts) Since there are a number out there that are incorrect due to the incorrect procedure of testing.

go test drive the 2 cars.....

My first car was a 1988 ford escort manual, then a 1993 accord manual, then a 1994 ford ranger manual. Just because it has a standard transmission does not mean it's any fun to drive.

i feel the 350 has a lot of power everywhere, dont have to get it into the high revs midrange is real strong, max torque is at 4800 engine isnt peaky

at the bottom of this page is a power curve if it helps, pretty flat torque curve, power is everywhere:

to be honest, this comparison is not gonna get you no where.. you're coming two different vehicles.. if the 350 came in manual, then you would have a better comparison, but the power is where the 350 is different from the 250 manual.. you'd just have to test drive both cars to figure out what you like better, but the power is where the difference really is...

I have drove manuals most of my life but do not discount a car simply because of an auto tranny. I have not picked up my IS350 yet but when I test drove the car several times the tranny seemed just fine to me. In fact the fastet car I ever had was an auto. Now granted it was a street legal drag car but it was fun as heck to drive even without a clutch.

If you are really hung up on a manual and you want the power you may want to look at the new G35. It is not a Lexus but it may be a compromise that you could live with if the IS350 auto is not to your standards and the IS250 is too slow. Personally if I was in the market for a manual car in this class I would take a hard look at the 2007 G35 sport.

If you have not read or watched a review yet check the link below.

(Please do not flame me for mentioning a G35...just want to help)

I looked at the Infiniti G35 and I am scheduled to test drive one tomorrow.

On the other hand...

I am 18 years old so I am young and do not have that much money to spend. Anyways, that is not relevant.

While I am trying to close a deal on a car, due to me being young, I am into things looking appealing, or that stand out etc... to grab attention. The lexus is250/is350 model does that for me. Very unique style, body, and has a ton of sex appeal. The thing is as of now I do not think I will be able to purchase the IS350, which is a bummer but whatever. So that would leave me to the IS250. Me being young, I enjoy driving aggresively. So when someone my age pulls up to me it's on. I just feel that with the IS250 I would be in for a big surprise when fullfilling my adrenaline; due to the IS250 not having a huge amount of power but probably more than I deserve. But I don't wanna leave the IS250 body due to it's appealness and head-turner quality. So it's tough trying to find a car that fits my needs... And with mitsubishi not doing so great these days I do not really trust the EVO series.

And another big deciding factor in what I get is that if I get the IS250 I will be bummed that if in 2008 they increase the power of it to compete with the new BMW 328. That or they come out with the IS300 which I highly doubt.

I just do not know what to do. Wish I did, but it is tough.

All I have to say is to follow your heart on this. My first car was a 300hp 79 mustang cobra...next was a 72 mach1 mustang followed by my 525hp NOS powered 73 ford torino. I know that if i was young and had the cash for a G35 or an IS250 my money would be on the G35 for exactly the reasons you put into your post...speed...sex appeal and the seat of your pants feeling. On that note did you consider these cars...may get your blood pumping as well...

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi:
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2006/suba...sti/index.html

2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2006/mits...ion/index.html

Not as "sexy" as a Lexus but if I were 18 these were the cars that would be first on my list (heck at 37 they would be first as well but my wife hates the wrx and the lancer...well...thats just a car she just gave me "the look" when I mentioned it).

I still think the IS350 is the best of the bunch for its performance, style and quality. It has enough performance to keep me going and enough luxury to get the wife's nod of approval. (But i still like the WRX )

if you can't let go of a manual....then you should check out the 335i bimmer ...otherwise get a 350. I gave up the manual tranny and don't regret it.

Aight first off! BTW I appreciate the input.

EVO and STI. Both Great cars, but lets see...
~ Lets start with the EVO ~
Great Rally car probably one of the best around for the money. BUT it is Mitsubishi and their Reliability ain't the best and the satisfaction and depreciation over all are horrible. Also hasn't Mitsubishi been going through a lot of problems these days? I have had heard a number of rumors that they could be going out of business.. or they have to offer 0% APR financing, which is great and all but when you go to trade it in or sell it later on it brings the value down more later on. It is fast, ALRIGHT looking, but... To me just doesn't have the special taste the IS250 has.
~ STI ~
Great AWD and EVO's main competitor. I dislike the body of this car just seems like a bunch of mismatch parts were stuck together. Subaru on the other hand has great reliability and quality.

I don't know why but I wouldn't want to own either the STI or EVO, you can call me crazy but to me I just don't know if I would want to own one of those cars.

And yah my girlfriend pretty much only likes the Acura TL so she really could careless about give me her two cents on what I get... which is either a good thing or a bad thing.

Anyways, yah I am going to definately check the Infiniti G35 out. I definately hope that it appeals to me when I go. If anything I would wait for the 2007 and purchase that one... but I just gotta check it out.

- Any word of how much the base MSRP of the 2007 G35 will be? Possibly around the 2006? $33k or something? If so that would be great if not then

All of this great information... and if you have any more input please lay it on me. The more to think about well the more I can narrow down exactly what I am looking for sooner and more efficiently.

BTW how old are you? If you do not mind me asking, I am curious

First off I would love to get the IS350 but ATM I do not have enough money to afford it so I am stuck to the IS250 of the IS models.

Well, I am testing driving the G35 today so we will see... but I just don't think it will match up to the IS250 from when I test drove it... But who knows.

Sport model of the G35 (2007) loaded is 38k....listed on the edmunds site. As per your reply on the EVo..you are corect about mitsu cars but the EVo is built (at least drivetrain wise) a little different. The STI is a love it or hate it car but they are well made. Right now the 2006 G35 sport with a manual may be a great deal. I know when I looked into one I got a black sport model priced fully loaded plus the deck spoiler and the ground effects for 35k.

The 2006 is not quite as nice as the 2007 but my guess is you could get it for 500 max over msrp. That would make it a good deal. Granted it will not be as nice as the lexus IS250 but it will be faster.

BTW right now edmunds quotes the car I priced out as follows:

Sticker: $37,480 Dealer Cost: $34,277
Price paid on average thru edmunds: $33,815

So you can see the dealers are working oncleaning out the 2006 models for the 2007 models and are willing to take a hit on their dealer kickbacks from Infiniti.

Here is the IS250...not as good a deal (but you get what you pay for)
Sticker: $38,785 Dealer Cost: $33,671
Price paid on average thru edmunds: $37,035
But my guess is that if you shop around you could get it for 35k.

Let us know how it turns out and which car you decide on.

i did an extended drive (2 1/2 hrs) on the G35 sedan manual and was really unhappy with it after about 5 min. the interior quality on the 06 is just horrendous IMO and once you have driven/sat in the IS250 manual, you can't accept the infiniti purely based on interior looks/feel.

from what i have seen and heard about the 07's, it should be MUCH MUCH better, so if anything, you may have to wait another month or 2 for the 07's to come out when comparing it to the Lexus. although the 06 G35 is a great deal right now, it sounds like you think appeal is quite important, so the 06 i think just won't cut it for you... i would do the same thing. i looked around for a few months for a small sports sedan and the 06 G35 was the fastest to be crossed off the list...
