Default Tinting help, Please!

I know there has been a considerable amount of information posted on CL regarding this topic and I have search and read much of it. I have a few questions which I hope someone will help me with.

1. Gen 5 Nav...is it affected by tinting? My local tint shop uses 3M (metallic 35% charcoal color) routinely on Lexus, BMW and MB cars. They report never hearing og any interference as I have seen reported here.

2. I would be especially interested in seeing any pics or Smokey Granite Mica (SGM) with tint. Any recommendations on color or degree of tint for this color? My interior is cashmere.

3. It seems like thhere are as many brands as dealers. Any thoughts on what NOT to use? Duribility, longevity and clarity issues. I have read in other forums that 3M is a very good tint. I just question the metallic factor.

Thanks for any help. I apoligise to those who are offended that someone would bring up "tinting" again. Fortunately, this forum does not appear to be to critical about that as some other forums are. (Did I say BMW??)

All tint companies make different lines of tints to cater to all likes and budgets. Metallic tints are usually the best ones in terms of resisting color fading, but you have to be careful because if you pick a highly reflective film, the cops might give you a ticket regardless of the tint's %.

I have the 3M ColorStable tint in my car. It is one of 3M's best lines of tints, but cost a little more than the average price you would pay. I paid $230 for mine. Hope this helps

while most people have not experienced any nav issues with metallic tint... that's not to say that you won't.

if you can afford it.. nothing beats ceramic tint. i just got it 2 weeks ago and i'm extremely happy with my decision to spend the extra bucks on it.
