Default Side mirror scratches

Anyone has scratches on side mirror?

Mine has spider web scratches all over. I hand wash my car and use microfiber towel to dry.
It seems like the side mirrors are made of plastic, and it scratches easily.

Others have same experience?

Hehe, that's microfiber for you. Others will tell you different, but I hear that a lot from people using them.

I've got a nice long (albeit light) scratch on my drivers side mirror. Have no idea how it got there. I haven't tried to get rid of it yet, but hopefully it comes out.

Not all microfiber towels are created equal. I've used many and can tell you some microfiber towels are capable of marring the paint. Low quality cheap MF towels are no better than a 100% pima cotton towel which actually is not so bad, but on dark paint I would suggest using good quality towels/applicators. Do you hand wash your car? One product I would suggest to remove light scratches is Klasse AOI followed by Klasse Sealant Glaze. For more severe marring I would recommend 3M Perfect-It Fine Cut Compound. I used to have a black car and these products are a car owner's best friend.

I had the same scratches on my driver side mirror when I bought the car. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced it under warranty. The only problem now is that they don't match now. It seems that the mirror they replaced it with has a brown tint to it, compared to the blue looking tint on the passenger side.

Cool

I wouldn't be blaming the towels. I noticed the scratches on my driver side mirror when I brought it home from the dealer. Haven't done anything about it.

i use microfiber towels from a company called Vroom, get 'em from target. work great for me, no added scratches. also, i dropped a one of my mirror backings (the fat part) while replacing my puddle lamps, no scratches... i was kinda surprised...

I am closing in on the 5k service. Will mention to dealer to get replaced.

I looked at the side mirrors again. They scratch very easily.

This is not typical side mirrors that can withstand wiping from car washing activity. I owned many cars, cheap and luxury, and never found one that had mirrors easily scratched like this one.

Seriously they suck! I have already gotten the driver side replaced only to find that after i washed my car it was scratched again. Sucks! The guys at Lexus played the "i've never seen this happen before" card on me.

Both the driver & passenger side view mirrors have minor scratches on my IS 350. I'm calling Lexus USA to see what they have to say about his issue. I'll keep you guys informed.

I went to dealer this am and they refused to replace under warranty. They told me to call Lexus Customer Service.

??!?? Is this a common problem among owners?

Could this be consider a safety issue? I'm thinking the scratches can get worse over time affecting visibility while driving.
