not 100% sure but it was to my understanding that philips provides oem hid lighting for most, if not all major auto manufacturers.

Yes, that's how I understand it as well. From the MTEC website, they provide OEM HID lighting for many cars in Japan.

this was taken from the philip's website:
Our record of innovation and our ability to meet the levels of speed and quality required by OEMs have made us the first choice of all major vehicle manufacturers.

From the MTEC website: "Our major business is in OEM and ODM for Japanese companies."

I guess it doesn't really specify their HIDs are used as OEM. But I can find out.

Here's the url http://www.mtec.biz/a.htm

I think Toyota/Lexus use Denso ballast for their HID's.

The key word is "major" vehicle manufacturers. Car companies that use Philips, is what Philips considers major vehicle manufacturers.

MTEC probably supplies one or two components to the larger companies.

I took some pics, but you really can't see the color difference in the pics. Let me see if I can find my camera cable to download them.

I ordered the 4500K 9006 for the fogs. Unfortunately, the guy sells D2S and D2R type bulbs and doesn't have the D4S He said he was going to look into it though, so let's see if he can get them.

So you use D4S for fogs?

The base mount of the D4S is notched differently than a D2S. I read somewhere that you can modify a D2S bulb to fit a D4S fitment by simply dremelling a couple of notches in the proper areas to make them fit. Alas, I am not ready to try that yet.

I'm not one for "that's what everyone has, therefore that's what I'll get".
I think I did , probably was one of the first ones.

No, I used 9006 type bulbs. The D4S bulbs are for the OEM HID lows.

The main difference between the two is that D4's are a newer type of HID bulb that don't have mercury in them. Since they are pretty new, a lot of the aftermarket HID places don't have them.

If you were one of the first to get the MTECs, what made you decide to go with them?
