That seems expensive... I'm only a year older than you, otherwise the same profile, and I only pay around $1800. My first 6 months cost $1100 but I reduced it by buying a renters insurance policy from the same company, and by taking a defensive driving class.

That wouldn't have happened in Fairfax County by any chance? They rung me up once - paced for .2 mile from 8 cars back. Total BS, but that's another story.

I could tell you guys my insurance rate, but, then I would have to kill you. . Third vehicle (aka "pleasure" car), clean driving record, swore there would be no car seats/children riding in it, etc. Round trip to work is 10 miles , on roads with low accident rates -- let's just say it's lower than any other posted rate above. I have a family member as my agent who requested that I not disclose my rate. Therefore, I would prefer not to give my company as it has been listed above. Don't want to risk raising any red flags.

You're insurance is always higher if you are:

1) Male
2) Young (below 30 years old)
3) Single
4) Own a car with a big(ger) engine
5) Live in a metropolitan area
6) Drive far to/from work
7) Drive a coupe instead of a four-door (you're o.k. with this)
8) Do not keep the car in a garage
9) Do not own a home
10) Have a history of accidents/tickets

There are more, but these are the major ones. How many of the ten describe you?
