After installing the MTEC HIDS a few weeks ago, I got lazy and didn't put the dust covers back on. I'm convinced that the covers have nothing to do with condensation, but the seal on the base of the bulb is the key since I haven't had any condensation issues at all.


Anyway, being the noob that I am I took off the black metal bracket that holds the silver bar that retains the dust cover. The easy way would have been to pull the silver bar and release the dust cover, but I was dumb and unscrewed the metal bracket and took out the silver bar and black metal bracket. Yesterday I decided it was time to put the dust cover back, not because of condensation but just because.... Turns out I can NOT find the black bracket, forgot where I put it. Went to the parts department at the local Lexus dealer, they do have the dust covers but do not have the bracket. They claim I have to pay $412 for the entire headlight housing to get the bracket because they don't sell it seperately. Now I know this little piece of 2" metal can not be worth more than 20 cents. Any ideas?
