not all aftermarket HIDs are illegal though, right? I read something about street legal xenons and DOT something something... didn't find something as straightforward as with tinting though...

How can they tell factory vs. aftermarket HIDs? is that why its not enforced?

All aftermarket HID kits are illegal because of the non self-leveling headlights that comes with halogen based headlights.

Yep, Aftermarket HID's are illegal due to the fact they are installed in non-HID equipped cars. The reflector housing in these cars do not have the right beam pattern for HID, thus making it quite blinding to oncoming traffic.

Although it has been illegal, it's not really enforced. Unless someone is sporting 12000K and pointing it upwards.

yep... its rarely a problem especially with our cars.. IF you get rolled just claim ignorance

p.s. upon installing hide those ballasts... it always helps if the whole ignorance bit goes bad
