I've found lots of hidden dirt in the lower door seals on the car (not the door). Actually, b/c my car is black, I didn't even really notice the trim there cause it blends in so seamlessly. I've probably washed the car about 20 times since I got it in Apr '10 and have never hit under there (with the doors closed, the water spray can't get in there). It was gross. now I have a spray bottle with some car soap and one with fresh water so I can shoot soap and water in there while I hold it open with my other hand... tried to remove it altogether (looks like it stretches onto a hook at either end) but didn't want to rip anything...

I think there's a certain height before it retracts back down; because I put antlers on my car during xmas and they clip on to the window. So it might protect the hand but maybe it'll break your finger.
Can anyone test their finger and verify please?

yes and if you dont report back, we'll conclude that it does not work because all your fingers have been broken and you can't type a response

It will stop and go back down at any height as far as I know, but it does need to feel sufficient resistance before it stops and goes back down. It is NOT enough to break any fingers, not even close.

Lexus removed that feature from a number of 2011 models, the IS included.

Is it a noticeable change when turning? I am still trying to find out if mine does it.

And yea, I agree, they're pretty cool because you can see the cut off along the wall when you're turning.

*edit: the Lux pkg has it too.

I have a coin holder on the left side of the steering wheel. I think they should just eliminate the ashtray entirely

Ya there's that little thingy next to steering wheel, I think it can hold like 8 quarters, maybe for the parking meter? But if it's not full, you'll get a slight annoying coin rattle.

I think it works only when the car is switched off, not too sure though.

I think you have to get that enabled via the Lexus features at the dealership.
