Just by reading the posts on this forum I think that the best deals for the Sports Pkg are in the Northeast Region. Seems like most ppl from NY and MA are getting good deals. I will definitely try to haggle some more when the car comes. Thanks for the good responses.

Hey guys,

I have been reading about a lot of people haggling for money off the MSRP. One of my family members has been in the leasing business for almost 17 years and he says the best way to haggle is not off the MSRP but off the payments and i definately aggree. Lower MSRP can also mean higher interest rate so what difference would it really make unless you are purchasing the car for cash. With my car, i never even asked for a penny of the MSRP, with my multiple security deposits totaling $4500 (which i will get back), and my 6k due at signing (delivery, freight, transfer fee, etc. etc. and whatever was left over was used for a down payment), i ended up getting my 250AWD with premium leather package (leather, sunroof, headed/vented seats, power seats, wood trim) for $540/month plus tax on a 4 year lease. Now all those numbers are in Canadian dollars but with the conversion, i put roughly $5150 US down, $3900 Security deposit, and got payment of $465/month plus tax. I also got the free protection package or whatever they call it for the fading of the paint and the marks on the leahter. I went to another dealer and tried haggling with the MSRP and ended up getting a payment which was about $15/month higher. I would suggest going to a different dealer and trying haggling for the payment amount and not the MSRP.

With all that down, that is REALLY high. Of course, your taxes are higher too, which explains part of it.

I'd say it makes most sense to haggle off both ends- up from invoice on the first salesman, and down on the APR on the second salesman (finance office). Find another loan source, and tell the dealer to beat their APR if you don't hear what you like. The same goes for warranty details- the dealer is just a middle-man, so I'd negoitiate anywhere I could, or find another source.

Its not that high at all because you get the sercurity deposit back and i really only put about 1800 CDN down because the rest of the 4000 went towards the delivery charges, transfer fee, etc which totalled about $2200. That being said, i put down $3000 total for my mazda 6 without any security deposit and got a payment that was only about $40/month less.
