Quote: i dont have the ml system, how much louder is it than the stock one? i've maxed out the stock..max is 60 but that was on a burned cd that was recorded a little lower than one thats purchased at the store...normal volume for me is 45-50
Didn't know that about the max. being 60, nice to know. Loudest I've had it is 55. My typical range is anywhere from 40 to 50.

So thanks to the responses here, I decided to crank it up from my usual 30 to 40 today and I realized that I'm freakin' OLD! I listened to my system at 40 for about 5 mins before deciding that my ears couldn't handle it so I lowered it back down to 30. I know I know...weaksauce.

with the windows down I usually listen to my ML between 44-52. I generally find 49-51 to be about perfect. Sounds great!

Well I wish I had the ML....stock stereo is TERRIBLE. It doesn't hit low range base and in all honesty...those "13" speakers don't do *****!!

Love my IS..hate my stereo. I envy you IS owners with ML (can watch dvd's too)

Oh and if memory serves correct...the stock stereo maxes out at 62..but don't try it..your not missing a thing.

Really? Wow, I must be an extreme non-audiophile. I think the stock system sounds pretty decent. Not top-notch, obviously...but pretty good for a stock system.

Yeah, what Fox said.

I only 'bump' it loud when I'm speeding for some reason. HipHop makes me drive faster.

I keep mine at or below 30. With all the recent reports about early hearing loss in my generation, I'll save the damaging SPL's for the few concerts I go to. Kind of sad when you're already in your 30's and you need hearing aids. Heck, I even double-up on hearing protection (plugs and muffs) when I go to the range.

Cheers,
Kermee

On the contrary, the fact that your ears couldn't handle it means you are YOUNG, with the sharp hearing of youth. Ever heard how loud old people turn up the volume on their TV's? And many of today's young people who play their "music" too loud are going to wind up deaf by the time they are old.

even teh stock IS audio is regarded to be one of the best non upgraded car audios from the factory, imagine when you get the ML which is very powerful for a factory offered system

Me alone in the IS with a good mp3 cd:

Taking it easy: 35
Most the time: 40-45

Good techno track: 50

After 45 the system starts to be maxed out.

The same here and I am only 30 years old. I guess that I will give 40-45 a try.
