I've seen a few this week, and the looks are really growing on me.

I've seen maybe 4 or 5 in the last three months, and not one for the last 2-3 weeks. None of my "sightings" have been more than a few seconds either, so it's not even like I can get a good look at one on the road! I kind of thought there'd be more of them around by now. I'm going between Seattle and the Eastside pretty often...

This seems like a dumb question.
Is there a way to tell RWD & AWD apart without looking inside?

I don't actually own one yet, just researching.

Have only seen ONE in Kansas City in the past 2 months. It was the beautiful glacier mica and looked spectacular roaring past me on 1-435 doing about 80 in the far left lane. So fast that I couldn't tell if it was a 250 or 350.

Default This stretch of interstate

has KS Highway Patrol Crown Vics every 3-4 miles, and the posted limit is 65.

Us old guys feel like we're doing plenty at 75-80...can't imagine what it was like at 125. I guess out in the desert on a big, flat deserted stretch...

The easiest way, as tdog09 mentioned, is to look for the "IS250 AWD" badge on the rear.

But if you want another way, you can look at the rear tires. The RWD cars have a staggered setup with wider tires in the rear (either 245/45-17 or 255/40-18), while the AWD cars have the same 225/45-17 tires on all four corners.

Where do you go that fast in/near NYC? The hardest place not to speed is on Rt 15 in CT. The limit is 55 (50 in some places) and almost everyone on the road does 80. You see some nice cars there. One time I had a clear lane so I gunned it up to like 90-95, and the E-class behind me stayed right on my tail... Then passed me. Turns out it was an E55.

I've been shopping around for a 350 here in Southern Cali, to my surprise I only see 3-5 IS's on each dealer lot. Heck, Riverside even have a waiting list. Went to Longo Lexus last night, they have about 40 IS's. So anyone shopping for an IS, they've got a whole bunch. They only have one Glacier Frost Mica though. But I do see 2-4 IS's everyday on the road.

IS350 soon

It's not *all* that close to NYC, but the western part of Rt. 78 in NJ is a speedway. Normal traffic moves about 80 on that road, and given the right traffic conditions you can take short jaunts into triple digits without sticking out like a sore thumb. (Or maybe I've just been lucky)

The two places that I had the most fun is to drive in NY is the saw mill in Westchester and the palisades parkway in Rockland. Thats where I have hit 125 on the palisades. If you go to far north the road isn't as good and you have to watch out for the Deer I wouldn't want to see that. And don't take the palisades into NJ the cops are everywhere. It not like i was traveling the whole time at 125, thats just dumb, but I have pushed it and came right back down.

I live in the east bay and I've also seen more IS 250/350 on both sides of the bay. It's always nice to watch it move in the sunlight on a clear day. Hopefully more warm days will be coming in the months ahead. I'm sick and tired of the rain.
