Wow... Is that safe to do? Seems like you're really messing with the engine a lot...

Like having 2 three year old children in the house again...pet one the other one gets jealous...give them each a toy and they want the one the other has!!! LOL!

Is yours a male? Looks like it? He / she's pretty...got a great face and he's cut correctly!
Thanks for the compliment on my dog! He's a 14 1/2 year old male, though the picture in my avatar was taken a couple years back. He's an absolute joy -- all bichon's have great personalities, but in my (admittedly biased opinion ), I really lucked out. I'd love to see a picture of your girls, too.

Not really, no. Which is why, like I mentioned, it's something used on WRC and other turbo'd rally cars. Their engines get rebuilds every event. Most people driving around on the street don't have that luxury, but that doesn't stop them from trying it out because it looks and sounds cool (and it is... up until the point your engine detonates).

It sounds funky, but basically all those things do is to temporarily drop the rev limiter to a preset value when the clutch is depressed (or for an auto, the brake applied). It makes launching the car a no-brainer -- rather than manually trying to hold the revs at say 3,000rpm prior to launch, the driver simply floors the gas. The machine-gun sound is the engine bouncing off the rev limiter at the launch rpm. When he wants to launch, his foot comes off the clutch or brake, the rev limiter goes back to where it belongs, and he's off.

Basically by modifying the two-stage rev limiter the flash is classified as a racing product because it may compromise other driveline components and most tuners acknowledge and respect the safety feature incorporated in the new ECU by Mitsubishi Engineers. The flashes provide addictive acceleration by incorporating a higher 6000 RPM rev limit for the launch control when the clutch pedal is depressed (allowing you to build boost while remaining stationary).

It's no different than any 6k launch, except the car holds itself there for you.
In fact, Mitsu builds a 5k limiter into all 05 and up evos It's so you don't launch at 7K! It's the same thing just higher.

Interesting... Thanks for the info. As they say on South Park, I think I've really learned something today...
