Default Advice before I finalize order.....?

After much frustration and delay, I'm about to put a deposit down on an order with Park Place Lexus in Plano/Dallas. Any advice anyone has on the following details would be appreciated before I commit -- This forum has helped me so much and I'm really grateful.

IS 250 RWD Tungsten/Sterling

Luxury Package LL - 17" wheels
ML/Navigation Package

Sirius satellite radio - they're telling me there's no port install option and the want $695 to install. I've found the port install option referred to all over the forum but can anyone confirm they were able to get Sirius port installed and how much they paid ?

Clear bra - they want $349 for the clear bra; is the dealer a bad place to get this and if so, where else do you go (I'm in Austin, TX).

Tint - they want $250 for tint with a lifetime guarantee, is the dealer a bad place to get this? If going someplace else, where else ? The problem is I don't know where to go locally and I'm reluctant to trust my Lexus to an unknown.

I'm getting $1000 off MSRP and my deposit is refundable -- neither of which I have been able to get from any other dealer.

Thank you -Ken

Looks good. Price for clear bra and tint are good, just check what type of clear bra and tint they will provide (ceramic vs metallic tint, 3M bra, etc). Satellite radion looks pricey; port installed options in the near future should be around $500. Try to get that down somewhere near $600.

Congratulations on your order! Tell us when it arrives.

Thank you so much for your reply...this is the biggest purchase of my life to date - I never thought I'd be buying a car for this much. I've needed to get a car since September, waited for the IS to come out, then waited for the '06 TSX to come out, then waited for the possibility that what I wanted would be on the next allocation, and now finally putting in the special order for late April/early May delivery.

I agree about the satellite radio price....but having trouble to get any movement from them because of the $1000 MSRP discount (like that's a huge amount -- but hey it is a special order, so I'll take what I can get !).

Overall I have to say that I've been pretty shocked with how I've been treated by Lexus dealers. The Austin dealer was unhelpful and ill-informed, the San Antonio dealer told me they could give me an expected delivery date AFTER I gave them $1000 non-refundable, another Dallas dealer didn't return phone calls -- and that's aside from all the frustration about wanting something "standard" (17" wheels) that's not even available in this region. Buying my 1994 Acura Integra new was a better experience.

But thanks again for your reply - i'll post more when i know more

Thanks man -- I'm migrating from a '94 Acura Integra that I feel every bump, jolt, and crack in the pavement.... I'm ready for a little "lux" though I don't want a libary-on-wheels-luxo-barge like my Mom's ES. So the IS with Lux seems perfect for me.

On the clear bra ask them if they do the bumper and hood or just the hood, fenders, mirrors? I found that my dealer does not do the bumper becuase they believe there won't be an rock chips on the front bumper.

Everyone here says that is where it needs to be in addtion to the hood, fenders and mirrors so just make sure you know what you are getting and it is what you want.
